Re: DanSF49's Bad Back Opening Day Sliders

Dan I'm really like these sliders. Only have one gripe and that's batters take third strikes way too often. Even the good hitters. Have you modified the sliders recently? Last set I used was modified on 3-31-2008. Any suggestions? Any suggestions to up the cpu pitch counts? That may ne die to impatience on my part however.

one last question......I noticed the strike zone is bigger than in most baseball games. Any way to make the strike zone a little more realistic? I've saw balls that was out of the strike zone window called strikes. I like a much tighter strike zone. Any help will be appreciated

Hey guys this game is crazy and these sliders are nuts!!! I have been trying some extreme things to make HRs less prevelant. I just dont get it I will post below what I have tried and its working out great both Human and AI have been getting hits realistically and HRs for the AI have been perfect BUT I haven't hit any myself in over 10 games, I have hit a few of the wall but none out of the park. Anyway give them a try and let me know. I think I will have to pump up the HUMAN Power, I'm still testing that but try these and let me know your thoughts. Last game I lost 6-5 with the Mets to the Nats, Kearns hit a HR off Wagner in the 10th. But they had 12 hits and I had 11, only 1 HR by Kearns.

      HUMAN

      Batting Skill - 100
      Contact - 0
      Power - 0

      Step Influence - 0

      AI

Post #94 has the newest set posted, but I will be making changes they will be:

        Human

        Infielders Speed - 15
        Outfielder Speed - 35
        Infielder Reaction - 30
        Outfielder Reaction - 0
        Pitch Speed - 70

        AI

        Infielder Speed - 15
        Outfielder Speed - 40
        Infielder Reaction - 30
        Outfielder Reaction - 0

As for the AI taking to many strikes looking, the newest set has been much better with that but if you still run into the problem lower the AI Take Stikes Behind by increments of 5 till you find them taking to your liking. For the stike zones there is nothing I can do, 2K has variable umps in this game but almost all of them have huge strike zones.

I think you're on to something here. I lost a 11 inning heart breaker 4-3 to the White Sox. I think they had 10 hits and the Cubs 9 with two homers combined between the two teams. I have the same settings though I upped the AI power to 3 (just trying to nudge it a bit) and human power at 10. I'm seeing a bit too many strikeouts so I need to tweak that a bit. I'm striking out quite a bit on these too, which is nice since I wasn't before.

Re: DanSF49's Bad Back Opening Day Sliders

I upped contact to 5 for both human and AI. Another 11 inning game with the wind blowing out at Wrigley. 11 hits for me and 10 for the AI in a 7-6 victory. With AI contact at 5, power at 3 and skill at 100, 3 HRs, with two being because of bad pitches for me. I had two HRs with the Human skill 100, contact 5 (because I was striking out too much) and power 10. One of my HRs was wind aided because it was at the wall and went from a catchable ball and then at the last moment it turned into the HR arrow. It was actually the first wind aided HR I've had in 70 games. Most of the HRs tend to be bombs. I'd like to see some of my nonpower hitters taking a ball out every now and then. Fukudome has taken about three balls to the wall and Thierot had a triple with a gapper.
I'm still tweaking, but I'm going to try a few more games with your adjustments.

Hey guys try this, leave all the sliders I just posted above the same but make the Human Skill 0, Human Contact 100 and Human Power 0. I think this might work better for the Human hitters. I hit a nice bomb to right with Big Papi that went 412 feet and all the hits were very realistic.

i would like to see the computer on these settings(100 contact) because i was able to strike out a lot of batters with my 5th starter who is like a 67... they struck out too many times just purely swinging and missing! so i am gonna try to test this out with there contact at 100

I think you will see them strike out alot more with Skill at 0 and Contact at 100. I tried that last night and had 10 K's thru 5 and a no hitter with Lester of Boston and this was against the Yankees. It seems like all that matters for the CPU is the Skill slider. It just seems to control everything, with the Human not so much so since I hit pretty good with Skill at 0 but with the CPU if the skill is 0 and contact is 100 they dont hit anything.

man these sliders are so strange... you would think that puttin the contact up would help but i guess not lol i am still gonna test it out and see what happens

AJ, I just tried it again for 6 innings of me as the Orioles and AI as the Brewers, both throwing our #2 starters. I had Skill 0, Contact 100, Power 0 this is the same for both Human and AI. It wasn't to bad, I had to turn it off after 6 innings because I had to go back to work I was down 4-1, Brewers had 6 hits I had 3. Brewers also had 1 HR from Braun on a meatball (I pumped up the total control pitching slider to 85 now after the patch). Overall it played very nice, I struck out 4 times and I struck out the AI 6 times. I still think their may be to many swings and misses by the AI with Skill at 0 but we will have to test some more. One thing I notice is they seem to be taking alot of called strike 3's now I dont know if this is from the patch or with the Skill at 0 they dont recognize pitches as well because I do see them also swinging and missing alot on breaking pitches. More testing is needed but I think we are headed in the right direction. Also since the Patch I have noticed some changes are needed to fielding slider and throw difficulty sliders, I should nail those down tonight. Let me know how your games go and what you are trying.

Daz, keep us updated on what you are seeing in your testing also. The more testing we all do the better I think we should be able to find a happy medium somewhere.

yea i played a couple games with the contact at 100 and it def seems like they take strike 3 way too much and i just struck out 11 with joba. it might work out if we can find some good ai take, and overall slders(both ball and strike) other than that it was pretty good just too many strike outs so there offense was awful

Someone else just mentioned they have noticed the AI taking alot of strikes 3's looking since they downloaded the patch this morning. So 2K may have fixed some other things in the game that we dont know about. We may have to make changes to the AI take strikes/balls sliders.
