I've lowered my human contact to 5 and kept my power at 10 and managed 12 runs against a #5 starter. Granted, my pitch speed was at 60 because I was struggling with 70, but I think I'm upping that tonight.
Now, on the AI side, even at 3 power I had one of their power hitters hit two HRs against me and they scored 4 runs, on three HRs. So I'm not liking the power up at all. I might try it at one to see it that makes a difference. The power numbers are so sensitive, especially in relationship with the skill #s.
I also took the overall take sliders and dropped them to 90 and the strikeouts seem to be a little more realistic. The fielding reaction settings feel really good right now. I'm glad you upped the infielder reaction #s because it was maddening how they would sometimes stand still on certain balls hit through the infield.
Have they toned down the power with the new patch? I haven't loaded it yet, but that is my next priority.

Ok, with AI at 100 skill, 10 contact and 1 power I only saw one HR hit by Uribe of the White Sox. I lost 5-2 and gave up 15 hits. I liked what I saw. 15 hits is a bit much, but I think part of that may be due to the patch because there seemed to be a few more single hit through the infield holes. May have to adjust infield reaction a little more.
For the human sliders I have 100 skill, 0 contact and 10 power. I hit one HR with D. Lee and had a handful of doubles. I think I ended up with 10 hits in the game. I set my pitch speed to 65 this time around. I struck out 10 times but I was also facing their # 1 starter and he was throwing hard.
I'll play a few more tomorrow night with these and hopefully the amount of hits was just a fluke this game.

Re: DanSF49's Bad Back Opening Day Sliders

OK, I just played a really nice game Cubs vs. White Sox tweaking the 100 skill sliders.
          Cubs 3 6 0
          Sox 5 8 1

Sox (AI) zero HRs; 2 doubles; 1 triple
          Cubs(me) 2 HRs; 4 singles

I also struck out 7 times and AI struck out 7 times. Zero walks for both, but that is the first time I've had that happen in a long time. I normally average 2-4 walks per side.
My two HRs, Henry Blanco and Reed Johnson. This is the first game where the non power hitters didn't hit the HRs and my weaker power players actually came through. Both pitches were high, tight hanging sliders (pitches that should have been hit out).
Two of the Sox runs came off a play where Reed Johnson was going to field a can of corn pop up, and he didn't lock on the target so the ball dropped in front of him allowing two cheap runs to score. So the runs for the Sox should be two less.

I'm using Dan's sliders with these tweaks:

          AI
          100 skill
          10 contact
          2 power

          Me (human)
          100 skill
          0 contact
          12 power

I also upped my TCP pitching 5. Human and AI reaction speeds were also upped. I think they are now at 35, but might be 40 (I can't remember). This really seems to help eliminate all the balls making it through the infield holes, which I really believe was tweaked in the patch and was basically verified on the 2k Boards. I also raised pitcher difficulty by 5.
I'll play a couple more games with these numbers. I did have a number of hard hit balls by the AI taken to the warning tracks, so I think I'll leave AI power alone for a game or two.

What do you have batter influence at? Are you using the updated set with batter influence at 100?

Yep, batter influence 100, step influence 0. Why?

Re: DanSF49's Bad Back Opening Day Sliders

Giving these a whirl with Daz's updates.

Through 6 innings Phils(me) vs Rox

                Rox 2 runs, 6 hits, 1 error
                Phils 4 runs, 6 hits, 0 errors

both teams have scored off a homerun (solo shot for Atkins, 2 run bomb for Howard) and both teams have scored on an infield groundballs with runners on third.

Hit variety seems decent, most balls are hit solid, but not all. Victorino hit a double on a bloop over the 3rd basemens head which was nice to see. Baserunning speed at 75 definitely opens up the game some.

I'm liking what i"m seeing so far with the new changes.

I think baserunner speed could even be upped a little more(80 or 85). I think this will help decrease the number of double plays and will also increase the chances for an infield hit.

Re: DanSF49's Bad Back Opening Day Sliders

Well just finished my first game with the latest set and Daz's updates.

All was going well until I brought in Brad Lidge to close the 9th. I was up 7-5 I ended up losing 11-7. Lidge gave up 6 runs including 2 hrs. Not sure if this is the comeback logic that some people are complaining about.

                      Final line was
                      Rox 11 runs, 17 hits, 1 error
                      Phils 7 runs, 11 hits, 1 error

Besides the last inning i felt the game played fairly well. Both teams bullpens struggled though. I hit 2 hrs, they hit 3 (with 2 in the last inning). I struck out 9 times and the cpu K'd 4 times.

these are some nice stats to see.... i am prob gonna try these out either tonight or in the morning depending on how i feel lol i had an intermeral socer game and it wiped me out.

i am hoping to get a really good set of sliders before i start my new franchise wit chris's rosters(which hopefully will be soon cause i am waiting for my memory card to come). ill be starting one wit the best team in the league!!! AKA the Reds lol

Just finished another game and of course got swept by the Sox in true Cubs fashion. Lost 3-1. This was a first with these tweaked sliders, four solo HRs. Three by the Sox and one by me. One of the Sox HRs by Konerko bounced off the glove of Pie as he tried to catch the ball at the wall. The nice thing about this was that no one hit multiple HRs. Four HRs, four different people. I can't say that has happened much. Usually I have one of the power hitters with at least 2 HRs in games with multiple Hrs.

                          Cubs 1 6 1
                          Sox 3 7 0

Total of three walks this game and I struck out 10 times and the Sox 6. Only two of the Sox strikeouts was a called third strike. Since I upped the pitch speed to 65-70 and the pitch difficulty, I've had a challenge hitting. At 45 my twitch response isn't quite what it used to be. I might lower the pitch speed for me a tad. For some reason I'm less patient with the faster pitch speed, but that might also be due to the fact that there is less time to react. I think there are certain things like pitch speed, TCP that are user skill based and have a little less of an effect than sliders like Power, Contact and Skill. So far these are the sliders I've played the longest. Hit variety is real good too. I've been seeing a pretty good hit variety with these too.

So is everyone liking the Skill slider up at 100 and contact and power way down?

Every game isn't a run-fest (with lots of HRs)?
