Up the AI Bat/Pitch Influence from 75 to 100. You should see a difference. If that's too much find a medium between 75-100

Obviously there is not much you can do here. There is no foul ball slider like last year nor are there sliders for AI taking/swinging at pitches behind and ahead in the count.

I am not here to ask you what to do to make my pitch counts higher, (although any tips would help), but I am here to give my 2 cents of advice. As far as the user working the opposing pitcher, I have been playing with the pitch speed slider. While this isn't all that has to do with foul balls, it does affect it. Here is my theory:

I believe that the faster the pitches come to you, the harder it is to time different types of pitches (obviously). If a fastball is coming at you with pitch speed at 100 instead of 70, it is going to make it a lot harder to read it as it leaves the pitcher's hand. Now dealing with foul balls. It is evident this year that timing affects hit variety. I have found that swinging later (RHB) will have him foul it off to the right, whereas swinging earlier (RHB) will have him foul it off to the left; as it would in real life. Since you are the slider guru, I was wondering how much you tampered with this slider while creating this set, and did you notice any difference in foul balls? A side not to that above, I like to move the right anolog stick up and to the right on a pitch that I am going to be late on (FB) and move the right anolog stick, not the left, to the left on a pitch that I am early on. This simulates players in real life reaching for balls just to stay alive and foul balls off.

Anyway, again just my 2 cents. Just wanted to see what you think.

PS: Any chance that the AI agressiveness could be tweaked through a roster update? Still seeing a lot of first pitch swinging. Maybe it's my pitching, though idk.
Bnarrow, I've really haven't tampered with the Pitch Speed Slider. Setting it to 75 is where I found a good medium for me in being able to recognize pitches from the AI.

Please feel free to tweak these sliders to all you want. They are really a BASE for people to start with.

I know you say to give these a chance and use them for 10 games atleast.
But with that being said I have played 5 games with this post patch set and neither I nor the cpu can generate any offense.
One thing I have noticed is there are a ton of warning track fly balls, I played the Nats last night and Dunn hit 4 long warning track fly ball outs.
In the 5 games I have played I have scored a total of 9 runs (using all different teams) and have hit 1 total HR. The cpu has scored 10 total runs and it yet to hit a HR.

Lower the Batting Pitch Influence for both (50). Bump the Contact Slider some (USER-25 + AI-35) & see what ya get.

            Hey Joe-

I really like your sliders my friend but for me using the Pirates I just can't get any extra bases going. For me i the most fun on All Star but I need the pitchers to throw more balls and be a little less aggressive at the plate. What would you recommend I change for just that?

One more thing... Do you have the Show? If so, what do you think? Im really contimplating on picking up a used system for that game. The lighting, bat sounds and animations from what I have seen just look really sharp. Thanks my friend.

Anything I can do to give myself a shot at catching the AI in steal attempts? It's never even close.

Another problem I'm having is that my outfielders seem very slow coming in on balls, but plenty fast running back. I upped the fielder speed a bit to compensate.

Blitz, if your enjoying DEFAULT All-Star & your looking for the AI to throw more balls lower the AI Strike Zone Tenedency between 0-10. That should help

You could bump the Catcher Throw-Out Success to help with throwing out runners.

That's a tricky-1 jacory. I wanna say lower the your Batting Pitch Influence Slider(50) & raise the Hit Influence Slider(100) & see if this helps.

I'm guessing on this-1, since there's no Slider Description. Let me know if that helps

AI Pitch Success Slider....hmm, will this help them get a bit of the ball more over the plate or even (shock) throw me a meat ball, because me and the warning track or deeper are complete strangers at this point!

Results from this mornings re-re-re-season opener Mets and Reds! (Keep wanting to nail the settings before I move forth....)

After going with Joe's pitching settings yesterday with Santana, I was just not feeling great about my control and especially my relievers control...so, I have made a hybrid using MLB on FOX patch 2 sliders for pitching only. Gives me a bit more control and I was happy with Santana's results (10 K's, 7 hits, 2 runs).

Hitting was still an issue as power was missing and shallow pop-ups were frequent. The result was a 2-0 loss. I dont know whether Harang is just that good or whether needs more tweaks. It appears that the Batting Pitch Influence is starting to come en vogue so I will bump that down for my next effort. Also sounds like AI pitch success might help out some also.

Other than that, love the rest of these. Had 2 SB's with Reyes and also failed attempt with Cora, and also the computer had two stolen bases on me.

Just need to stroke my ego with a bit more power.

So Joe...If I lower my Batting Pitch Influence to 50, do you still believe I should stay with success of 40, contact of 25 (or less) and power still at 90?

                      Thank you!

Glad to hear you were able to get a good Pitching Set going. As for Hitting I'm hearing people say that a Hybrid of All-Star User Hitting Sliders in Legend Mode have yielded much success.:

                        60-Success/50-Contact/65-Power...

Give those a try & post back some results

Thanks Joe, I will try out the new hitting numbers next game, do you think those include dropping the batting pitch influence as well, or keeping it at 75?

Also a question for anybody out there...I am having a helluva time in BP getting the ball outta the park. Since Citi Park is new, unsure whether it is the dimensions or my hit settings. I did crank a few to left with David Wright, but absolutely cannot get one out to right with Delgado.

Was BP more intended to time spray hits rather than jack the ball out?

Joe - You posted this a few pages back:

As for the CPU painting corners. Bump the Strike Zone Slider up some.(30-50) Also try zalf's suggestion of lowering the Bat/Pitch Influence Slider(50-60)

So that I understand correctly, bumping the strike zone slider will result in more pitches out over the plate vs. hitting the corners?

And the Bat/Pitch Influence slider will make it easier to get good contact on the ball even if it is on the corner?

What I'd like to see is a good share of balls thrown and pitches on the corner, but every now and then a fat one over the plate that I have to be patient and wait for. Any way to achieve that?

                            Thanks.

Does lowering the AI Pitch Success slider result in some pitches that are over the plate? I like the amount of balls I'm seeing and don't really want to see less balls, but most of the strikes I see are borderline pitches right on the edge of the zone. It would be nice to see a fat pitch once in awhile and yet still be able to draw a walk
