    Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting

I'm starting to get a lot of hits per game. I don't know if it's because I'm getting used to it or what. Would you suggest I decrease my user contact or should I increase AI Pitch Success?

To answer the last two questions:

      - I would NOT recommend using these with stick hitting. They are intended for classic one-button hitting and probably don't translate well when used with stick hitting (from the sliders I've read these are much different).

      - I would recommend decreasing User Batting Contact and leave the pitching alone. Funny, but even at 25 I can still rack up a good number of hits. I'd try 20 and then go from there.

      Thanks for the feedback!

One update: raised pitcher fatigue from 55 to 60. Even with user contact at 25, I can still get 10+ hits per game against top pitchers.

I fear lowering user contact so I'm going to see how pitching fatigue might affect this. First post updated...

I'm having a heck of a time striking out the CPU. I'm lucky to get 3 or 4 total per game. Any suggestions?

You just nailed what sucks about this game... This is my greatest frustration. Start lowering things and they never get a hit...raise one thing and you never get a strikeout. If you solve this let me know...

Also, I screwed something up. Instead of raising the pitcher fatigue to 60, it should be lowered to 50. I was tired when I posted and went the wrong direction with that - 60 makes them tire too quickly...I want to slow that down a touch and see. First post updated...

Played a game on the sliders.

Won 18-9, didn't strike out one batter.

              Am i doing something wrong?

LOL!! I would say you did everything right... In all seriousness, these don't sound like a fit for your style of play...

Right when I said I was done editing these I am going to make yet another (man, this game is frustrating)...

                  2 changes...

                  - lowered user contact to 20
                  - lowered cpu contact to 70

I am still raking hits at too high a rate... I cannot strike anyone out, and it's just no fun. guess i'll just have to live with this...

                    Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting

Multiple edits noted on first page...

I have a condition, and I believe it's incurable - "obsessive-compulsive slider syndrome." No matter what I do I can't have "fun" with this game while achieving realism. I find it frustrating, because had 2K provided us with additional slider options this could be a GREAT game.

For example, I can't strike anyone out. The most I have struck out the opposition is 4 times...and that's with a wide variety of pitchers. It's just not fun. Also, the other team might get 14-18 hits (give or take a few in either direction) but score only, say, 4 runs. So my starting pitcher (who might be rated pretty good) ends up going 7 innings but allowing 13 hits. Some might do this, but this seems to happen to me every game. I still don't walk guys unless I choose to, outside of the occasional one.

So, check the first post if you're interested. Or better yet, tell me what you guys are doing because I still haven't started my franchise yet because I'm obsessing over these.

I don't know...I think I'm just an idiot the more I mull over it...

With my current slider set i seem to get a decent amount of strikeouts per game.

                      cpu
                      contact 40
                      power 90
                      bunt contact/success 55/50

                      User
                      Pitch Meter speed 100
                      pitch speed 65
                      break influence 100
                      composure influence 100

i tend to see a good amount of strikeouts with these sliders. Remember to mix in your pitches and throw around the plate with two strikes on the hitter.

I use default pro sliders and I don't get many strikeouts either. Although MY guys strike out plenty lol. I swing and miss a ton. Thats a minor gripe of mine though, I wish the swing-and-misses were toned down a little and just have more fouls.

Plus on your point about giving up a lot of hits and not a lot of runs, Justin Verlander for me has an opponents BA of .323 yet only has a 1.93 era through 3 starts (1 CG). He also only has 15 Ks.

I notice a lot of hits for AND against me. Mostly singles. Then followed by a double play. I wish they had a stat in the game for GIDP b/c at this point I have to be leading MLB in most grounded into.

EDIT: OK I looked at my stats apparently I don't really strike out as much as I thought, I guess it just seems that way with all the swing and misses.

^These are almost identical to mine. Played a game vs Atlanta last night (i'm using StL) and Carpenter struck out 9 and gave up 6 hits and 2 runs 2 walks in 7 1/3 innings. Here's one thing I have noticed (or maybe it's just me).......the camera angle you use either helps or hurts your pitching performance. I use the Batter 1 camera with Zoom at 1 height at 4. Used different cameras previously and got very different results. Like I said could be just me but I just wanted to throw that out there. I'm on PS3 btw and still play The Show alot. Use 2K as a change of pace every now and then. In franchises with both and if I play 3 games of The Show I'll sim those 3 games on 2K and vice versa

How is your success of throwing out base stealers? I have my catcher throw out success at 95 and the CPU steal success at 5 and I STILL can't throw out even 70 speed/70 acc guys stealing second (using Joe Mauer and it doesn't matter who is pitching and what pitch -- he always throws it to the SS side of 2nd base)

Obviously there are some pitchers you can just steal on all the time. But this doesn't seem to matter for me -- slide step pitchers still have 0 success.

I know this is your slider page but have you tried out bulls23's sliders? I had issues striking out people but now I am getting 7 to 8 with my team per game now. Not sure if you could tweak yours a bit to get the K's but it certainly makes the game more fun.

I am also seeing the CPU get a fair number of hits of me also. Just thought I'd pass it along and I do like your sliders, but I had a heck of a time striking guys out. Now it's much easier. I had 9 strikeouts in 7 innings with Silva of the Cubs last night for example.
