does increasing cpu fielder speed affect outfielders and infielders?? -
Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting
Two things...
I'm lowering CPU batting contact back down to 75. As noted, they swing at everything. I was able to strike out 4 with Strasburg, but gave up 14 hits - but only 3 runs (against Cleveland - Sunday's potential matchup vs. Huff).
Also, I'm finding User batting contact at 30 too easy. I'm getting 12-14 hits per game. So I'm lowering it to 25.
Here's my frustration with this game (that's really starting to take away the fun): When I lower the CPU contact back down I find that, though I still give up a few hits, I don't give up any RUNS. But it's also no fun to watch a crap team get 14-18 hits, but still fail to produce any offense.
Once again, this game is just too broken to enjoy. Once you get the controls down (and timing) it's starts to lose its luster, which is how I feel about every sports video game I've ever played (for the most part).
First post updated... Thanks for any feedback!
Played 3 games full of infield dribblers and strike outs.
It is near impossible to hit a ball hard with HUM contact at 25, back to the near perfect of 30 for me.
I had a total of one xtra base hit with it at 25 and it was a weak grounder down the RF line.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Tried human contact at 25, absolutely horrible!

I won 8-5. I had 13 hits to LA's 14. I got in a jam early with Wolf, losing 1-0 in the 1st. Came back to take the lead in the 4th inning, 2-1. Now, I had 0 hits through 3 innings, but I was taking a lot of pitches and trying to time things up. I scored 4 runs in the 5th on a leadoff double by Weeks, a single, and then I drew a walk, stole a base and Fielder blasted a 2-run homer. I hit a late homer by Weeks, who went 3-5, only a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
Wolf went 6 innings, giving up 10 hits and 4 runs. Kameron Loe came in and gave up a run until Axford shut the door, getting the save. Rafael Rodriguez gave up 5 runs and took the loss for the Angels.
-- I guess everyone will have their opinion on this, but I really LOVE these sliders and this is where I'm staying to now begin my franchise. Patience, patience, patience is the key, waiting for the good pitch to drive. Just like in real baseball...
(And to let you know it's not always like this, last night I got 7 hits as the Reds, and the day before that I got 4 hits using the Indians... I love the variance of these, and I realize I get in trouble when I get frustrated and swing early or at everything.)STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting
played another awesome pair of games with this slider set tonight.
** exhibition game - today's blue jays (me) vs. padres (cpu) matchup. I lost 7-6, but had a runner on 1st with one out in the 9th, but Bell closed it out.
I got 13 hits, including 4 doubles (2 by Overbay) and a HR (Lind). Did so against John Garland, whom I believe is rated a mid-80's pitcher in my roster set.
** exhibition game - today's orioles (cpu) vs. giants (me) matchup. I lost 6-1, giving up 3 consecutive home runs to start the game (jones, markakis, & weiters). I got 5 hits in the game as, strangely enough, it was Tillman (of all people) who kept me off balance. I believe he's rated a 69 pitcher in my file. I made good contact, just kept hitting it where they were, and I also forgot how many outs there were in one inning, failing to get an inning-ending double play. Opened the door for 2 more runs that hurt me.
Just wanted to provide a glimpse of the varying types of games i'm getting. i LOVE human contact at 25.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

I was just curious to know how many strikeouts do you get against the other team? Also, what camera angles do you use for batting and pitching? Thanks!Comment

Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting
I made a couple changes in post 1:
- lowered cpu batting contact from 75 to 70. Just can't strike guys out.
- to compensate for lack of extra-base hits, I maxed out (100) CPU hit-and-run and also their base-running aggression.
Even having the hit-and-run slider set to 90, they only tried this ONCE on me in probably 20 games. So I'll see how this plays out. Thanks for all the feedback!STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

You've really got to be patient with these new settings. But they are AWESOME!! I played today's Milwaukee / Angels interleague matchup with Wolf pitching against Saunders. I was the Brewers.

After 130 games I believe hum con at 30 with pwr at 90 is the best option. Maybe a few too many hits as I am batting .300 as a team but anything below contact at 30 results in way too few extra base hits.
Also I am sticking with cpu con at 75 and pwr at 100. You are right with contact at 75 the cpu hardly ever strikes out but with anything below 75 they struggle to score. My team ERA for the season is 3.82 which isnt too unrealistic. Again I only have 30 games left in my season so I am not wanting to change too much. I am honestly about done with this game as soon as I finish my season it is time to start thinking about football.
I did enjoy this game but after playing about 180-200 games I am bored with it, just like I would be with any game I have played that much.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting
I literally just made this account and it's simply because I wanted to post here and give my feedback. I just started using your sliders, and I have to say I'm really enjoying them. To go along with your rosters that I'm now using, this slider set works really well. I'm used to using "Holy Grail of Sliders"'s set, but I've been finding it too easy, seeing that I get about 12+ hits a game, and manage to hold the cpu to about 5-8 hits a game, which is good, but those hits never seem to produce runs! Last night, trying these out for the first time against the Rays, they didn't hesitate to show me what they could do with these new sliders, as they scored 6 runs on 8 hits through about 6-7 innings, and my bullpen held them hitless for the remainder of the game. I was using the Yankees, and scored 4 runs on 6 hits. It took me some time to get used to the low human contact slider, and I'm still striking out, but showing progress.
Today, I played the Orioles @ Giants matchup. I chose to play with the Orioles, who sent Guthrie to the mound. Facing the Giants' Lincecum to start the game, he sent me down 1, 2, 3, recording 2 k's. In the bottom half of the inning, I gave up 1 hit, and things were going smoothly, until I ran into some trouble in the 2nd. I gave up a single and a walk to start the inning, followed by a passed ball that advanced the runners to 2nd and 3rd, and then Molina slapped a 2-run single into center field. After a mound visit, Guthrie was able to get it together and escape further harm. Guthrie pitched well the rest of the game, although I couldn't seem to get any 1, 2, 3 innings with him. However, he only gave up those 2 runs, but 9 total hits through 7.0 innings pitched, with 2 k's. He had thrown 76 pitches before I pinch hit for him in the 8th.
Moving onto my offense: Lincecum was dominant! He had 9 k's through 5 innings, only giving up 2 hits. Unfortunately for him, those 2 hits were 2 solo shots from Scott and Atkins. He didn't walk anyone, which was probably my fault for chasing some bad payoff pitches. The cpu stupidly pinch hit for him in the bottom of the 5th, (this really annoys me when cpu-controlled national league teams do this!) and he got the no decision, since the game was tied at 2 after the 5th. Mota came in for him, and I got to him in the 7th, hitting 2 singles before Wigginton hit a 3-run shot into left field! In the 8th, I started the inning off with a single, and Patterson stole 2nd, and then Jones drove him in with an RBI-Triple, extending my lead to 4 runs, 6-2. In the 8th and 9th, I went to my bullpen and Ohman and Hernandez pitched two hitless innings. This was the boxscore ...
R H E
Orioles 6 8 0
Giants 2 9 0
I apologize for making this post so long, but I'm just too excited about these sliders. Thanks so much! I'm gonna go play a few more games, that I have no doubt will be fun. Thanks again, sir!
Oh! Before I forget, do you know if camera settings might affect hitting or pitching?Last edited by xcesararosax; 06-16-2010, 01:22 PM.Comment

Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting
Interesting stuff, and welcome! This is an AWESOME site, with lots of great people.
Regarding your question, I just use the default camera settings. I've gotten used to them, so I don't want to change now. But go with something you like...
Regarding the sliders... sorry, but another change. I just cannot do CPU batting contact at 70. No challenge to me whatsoever.
So here's what I'm going to try: raising CPU batting contact to 75 and raising User Fielding Speed from 40 to 50.
I can live with the outfield speed at 40, but the infielders are often slow to react. I wish they had they had separate sliders for infielder and outfielder speed - pet peeve of mine!
Change noted in post 1. Again, sorry about this, but I want to get this right - but once again, I'm living in slider hell with this game.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting
Okay first time posting on here but have read and used these sliders for a while. I had one problem that i didn't like with my franchise with the Giants and that was getting a good amount of and giving up a good amount of Cheap hits. I am a free swinger don't have that good of patience at all and my hr total shows it. I am like 50 games into the season and Pablo is batting 451 with 1 hr.... My record was a little over 500 which i like. Just didn't like the Giants being #1 in batting average. Anyways enough about me i just got the idea and really liked the results i had in a few quick games and that was i put the infielders speed all the way to 100 and moved base running speed to 75 to try and increase opportunity of doubles and possible triples my Giants are slow overall speed so i don't get many of them anyway. This was trial run and thru 3 games i really liked them and it did do away with a lot of the cheap hits you had to earn it a little more. So thought i would throw it out there and see what you guys say and if by chance you had tried it that way.
Also is there anyway to hold a runner on because the computer steals on me at will and i mean it isn't even close when they steal.
Sorry for being so long winded.Comment

Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting
One update(6-18): lowered USER Fielding Speed from 50 to 45. 50 made them too quick, especially in the infield. NOTHING got through, and it played "arcadey." It's clear that 50 is too fast, but 40 is too slow. So I hope I have arrived...
First post has updates... Thanks, guys!STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting
well, after more test runs I've lowered User Fielding Speed back down to 40. That's it... I'll sink or swim with these. Even at 45 it still played like an arcade game and NOTHING got by any infielders (and I played a wide variety of games).
The first post is updated and this should be it... Sorry for the pain of so many changes!
2K needs MORE slider options and they need to be separate for both user and cpu. infielder and outfielder speed should be separated, as well as the catcher's ability to throw runners out. But I digress...STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS
