    Re: mkharsh33's Sliders...Classic Hitting

Allright I believe I have settled with cpu contact @ 60 and pwr @ 100.
Played 3 good games with these settings last night.
All in my Reds season all vs the Indians.
    Game 1
    CIN 2 CLE 5
Really struggled in this one as I only had 6 total hits. CLE had 12 with 2 hrs.
    Game 2
    CIN 4 CLE 3
I scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th for the win. I was down to my last out with no one on and down 3-1. Rolen singled up the middle then Gomes hit a game tying 2 run hr.
I then pitch hit for Hanigan with Alonso and he hit a walk off HR.
    Game 3
    CIN 8 CLE 5
I was up 8-0 after 3 innings, Alonso got the start at 1b and hit 2 hrs in his 1st to at bats.
He is batting .435 with 10 hrs and 24 rbi's since being called up. I play him everywhere, LF, 1B, 3B doesnt matter he just keeps hitting.
CLE ended up getting 3 runs in the 8th and 2 in the 9th but I held on 8-5.
I am now 46-30 I believe, 3.5 games up on the Astros.

Yeah, I like your idea and I'm gonna up it to 60 as well. At 55 I still feel like I can dominate too much. I believe that 60 will make you pitch like a pitcher!

      Thanks for the feedback!!

60 is just about perfect, I am going to leave it there for a while and see how it goes.
I have a feeling I may end up at 65. I tried 75 con and 75 pwr for 3 games and the cpu just killed me.

Use mound visits and get your bullpen ready.
Without it at 100 it is too easy to get out of jams.

By the way I took my worst butt kicking of the year last night.
This was using 60/100 for cpu hitting.
I lost to the Phils 19-7 in my Reds season.
The Phils had 30 hits!!!!!!!!!!! I was crazy, I just could not get outs.
The game before this one I beat the Indians 4-0.
The Phils had 19 runs on 30 hits and hit 5 hrs. I tried everything including using 6 different pitchers. Each pitcher allowed atleast a run. Arroyo started for me check out his line below.

Arroyo 4 IP 10 Runs 12 hits 3 hrs allowed.
His season ERA went from 3.5 to almost 5 in one start.

              wow...brutal!! LOL!!

I played an AMAZING game last night...exhibition. Me: Rays vs. Royals (CPU). Today's pitching matchup.

I trailed 4-0 heading into the 8th...had some runners on but made a couple baserunning mistakes and couldn't get a clutch hit.

bottom of 8th - drew a walk...single. bartlett at bat and hits a fly ball deep to right (opposite field) and I'm thinking, "what the heck - looks foul." HITS the foul pole - 3 run dinger (you could even hear the noise of hitting the post).

they bring in Soria, though there's still no one out in the 8th. crawford gets a hit...steals 2nd. zobrist grounds out to move him to 3rd. longoria strikes out (i was getting giddy!!). Pena then hits a double down the line and we're tied. brignac then hits a shot JUST OVER the 2nd baseman and i'm now up 5-4.

soriano comes in the 9th and shuts the door 1-2-3, striking out 2. I finished with 12 hits and 3 walks. I gave up 8 hits as Niemann was solid.

I'm LOVING the CPU 60 contact and 100 power!! I got killed 12-3 the other day, but it was a bad inning that got me. it feels so much more like baseball...i'm actually walking guys and pitching gingerly when i have to...

not a perfect game, and still some CPU logic or animations that make you smile, but a fun game... and at the end of the day, that's what we want, right?

yes, except ONE thing: up the CPU's batting contact to 60. but i'm fairly certain everything else is correct. but you could just as easily input the numbers from my first post, which is what i'm using and expect no changes, unless the upcoming patch throws something unforeseen.

you first need to plug all the numbers into your settings. go to your controller options and use your bumpers to get you to "classic hitting" and not the right thumb stick.

it's much more basic...you can use the left thumb stick to aim, but it's not recommended. personally, i believe you get GREAT results from classic hitting and the ball is sprayed all over the field, and home runs are realistic.

you only use the green "A" button to hit...it's all based on timing and reading the pitch speed to know when to press it. yeah, it seems more basic, and some will think it takes away from the game. but i'm totally sold on it and LOVE it!! some will disagree, and that's fine. but classic hitting saved this game for me.

with the settings i've provided you'll need to pitch like a pitcher. don't be afraid to walk guys... know what the pitches do and move them around the zone. know which hitters you should pitch around and review the lineups so you're pitching to guys you should and gingerly around those you shouldn't (ha!). hope this helps...

I played with these sliders last night. Great game!!!!!!!!!

I was real leery of putting pitcher composure at 100, but with Gallarado on the mound, he did get out of some jams. I didn't even use the mound visit and he completed 7 innings of work.

The Rockies beat the Brewers 4-3. Prince hit a two run jack and Gomez legged out a triple. I loved that, triples are rare. The Rockies were ahead 4-3 in the 9th and the Brewers had a runner on 2nd with two outs. Zahn grounded to second to end the game.

The only thing different I'm using is pinpoint pitching instead of break point. The Rockies had 10 hits, the Brewers 6 hits. I'll monitor the hits for the Brewers for a stretch of games. If I'm averaging 10 or less per game over 10 games, I might bump up contact to 35.

you guys are going to laugh at this question...

but what is the difference between the two? probably sounds like a stupid question coming from me, but i seriously don't know the difference. i've always used breakpoint... thanks!

Huh, the slider and roster guru has a question? Just kidding!!!!!!

If I'm not mistaken, pinpoint pitching is where you aim the ball last, the ball will go to that general area and perform the curve, sinker before it lands in that area.

Breakpoint pitching is you need to figure in the location of the break to where the ball lands.

                              Hope that makes sense.

Pinpoint is easier for me. Takes away any thinking I may have to do.

I'm trying one new change...upping CPU Pitcher Composure Influence from 35 to 45. I've found that I cannot score runs, mostly because the opposing pitcher always gets out of jams that I can't. This might just be a personal thing, but I'm going to give this a shot and see. Noted in first post...

                                Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
