    I would suggest not going this drastic to total control pitching because with this new setup it is VERY challenging. There's not really much I can personally do to help you...you're going to have to find your comfort zone with these as I don't know what kind of skill level you have. Hope you enjoy them!

    (I just pitched my first complete game shutout the other night. David Huff (Clev)...got to the 90 pitch mark and walked two guys. But induced an inning-ending double play: 1st-2nd-1st...was a 6 hitter. I struck out 7 and walked 4. FUN game!)

        Hey mkharsh33 I was wondering have you ever thought about lowering the infielders speed on both the cpu and human, its seems like sometimes i get cheated out hitting a ball through the gap and out of no where the cpu makes it look easy getting to the ball and throwing me out at first.

          this is why i raised the user batting power. i can already tell that balls are hit harder, and thus will get through a LITTLE more often (but not overdone). I'm really loving the set now posted on page 1. once i start my fantasy dynasty that's the set i'll be using...

            Will these work with total control hitting.

              I'm new to baseball games, since I'm an European Xbox 360 user and only a few weeks ago I learned that this year the game is unlocked and sold in Europe. I started using your sliders MKHarsh33. At first I had great difficulties and all was very frustrating, but now after 20 games it all makes sense and I'm enjoing your set, especially with the latest changes. Thanks for your work!

                Your slider set is great as a base set. No two games are the same. Here are some 5 game averages, without any adjustments, in the style that Blazzen has it:
                <style type="text/css">
                table.tableizer-table {border: 1px solid #CCC; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;} .tableizer-table td {padding: 4px; margin: 3px; border: 1px solid #ccc;}
                .tableizer-table th {background-color: #104E8B; color: #FFF; font-weight: bold;}
                </style>
                <table class="tableizer-table">
                <tr class="tableizer-firstrow"><th>USER</th><th>Game #</th><th>R</th><th>H</th><th>2B</th><th>3B</th><th>HR</th><th>RBI</th><th>AVG</th><th>K</th><th>BB</th><th>E</th></tr> <tr><td>&nbsp;</td><td>1</td><td>1</td><td>6</td><td>1</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>1</td><td>0.225</td><td>6</td><td>3</td><td>1</td></tr> <tr><td>&nbsp;</td><td>2</td><td>10</td><td>13</td><td>5</td><td>0</td><td>4</td><td>10</td><td>0.382</td><td>7</td><td>0</td><td>1</td></tr> <tr><td>&nbsp;</td><td>3</td><td>4</td><td>9</td><td>3</td><td>0</td><td>1</td><td>4</td><td>0.257</td><td>10</td><td>4</td><td>0</td></tr> <tr><td>&nbsp;</td><td>4</td><td>0</td><td>4</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0.137</td><td>4</td><td>3</td><td>0</td></tr> <tr><td>&nbsp;</td><td>5</td><td>3</td><td>9</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>0</td><td>2</td><td>0.272</td><td>3</td><td>4</td><td>2</td></tr> <tr><td>&nbsp;</td><td>Avg.</td><td>3.6</td><td>8.2</td><td>1.8</td><td>0</td><td>1</td><td>3.4</td><td>0.255</td><td>6</td><td>2.8</td><td>0.8</td></tr></table>
                <style type="text/css">

                Some observations:

                1) User errors might be perfect. Some were because I screwed up the throwing meter. The two in one game were botched fly balls. I have yet to see a booted ground ball though. CPU errors need to be upped. Not a single booted ball (infield or outfield) and not a single throwing error.
                2) Runs are a little low for both sides. MLB average is 4.38.
                3) No triples, but when a team only hits about 30 in 162 games, 5 games can't be a good indicator.
                4) Hits seem to be good. Take away the two big hit games and the averages are below MLB averages but still respectable.
                5) 2B seem good for the user but a little low for CPU. Not many extra base hits for them.
                6) Power seems ok, had two games with HR's and that 4 HR game skewed the user average. I may need to up user power, but I'm afraid that will increase doubles as well (which is good now, but on the high side). CPU seems good as the HR's are spread out through all 5 games with multiple HR games. RBI's are low for the averages but that has to do with runs.
                7) Strike outs and walks are all right. I'm satisfied with CPU Strike frequency at 40. The numbers pretty much are dependant on my patience at the plate. The CPU side of things looks good. Not striking them out too much and they're not walking me too much.

                I hope this helps in evaluating your sliders. But all in all this latest set is a great base to start with!

                  Great stuff, Detroit!!!

                  I'm still at work and have to teach a course tonight so I won't be home until late, but I'm thinking about lowering cpu outfield speed slightly. that may help with some increased extra base hits without tampering with the hitting sliders (for the user). I've toyed with that idea for some time...

                  I actually played a GREAT game this morning. random matchup of the cardinals (me) at cubs (cpu). I lost 6-4 in 11 innings. I trailed 4-2 heading into the 9th. got back-to-back HR's by Jay and Pujols to tie it. Westbrook started and struggled to get through 5 innings. I had my chances late but couldn't get that big hit... But I'm really, really liking these latest tweaks and I appreciate your helpful information.

                  But I think the route to go is lower the cpu OF speed by 5... What do you think? Thanks!

                    These sliders are SOLID. I am a little suprised to see the recent increase to the user pitch meter speed tho; once you got into your bullpen the meter seemed super fast already. I Have not tried the most recent adjustments but I like the increased user hit power for sure.

                      Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

                      The games I'm getting are great. I'll have one game with an ace and give up 4 hits and 0 runs. Another time I'll pitch with verlander and give up 4 runs on 8 hits. You never know. Which is great.

                      The adjustment I made is really simple actually. To increase runs, just a smidgen, without screwing everything else up is to drop arm strength and up aggression. These are my adjustments:

                      AI Base Running Aggression: 60
                      AI Outfield Throw Speeds: 60
                      Outfield Throw Speed: 60

                      I made a few other adjustments but that's just for my testing purposes. These adjustments I think will work well. If the AI is more aggressive on the bases it may lead to more doubles, triples, and runs. I know lowering throw speed will help with that, but I lowered because it seemed to strong at 70. I had wet noodle arms like granderson make it to the catcher from center without a bounce lol. I want to try it out at 60. I'll play some more games and post another table.

                      If you want here's a mediafire link to my excel template where you can input CPU and User data and it will compute the average. Also, it has a table with MLB averages to compare. Thanks to Blazzen for the idea.

                      Personally, I think it's more productive to post results like this in groups of 5 or more in a table instead of posting the occasional box score. It's a lot easier to analyze and see where things are going right or wrong.

                        Here are some new stats based on some small adjustments I mentioned. The key: VERY small adjustments (increments of +-5).

                        Here are the tables:

                        <style type="text/css">
                        table.tableizer-table {border: 1px solid #CCC; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;} .tableizer-table td {padding: 4px; margin: 3px; border: 1px solid #ccc;}
                        .tableizer-table th {background-color: #104E8B; color: #FFF; font-weight: bold;}
                        </style>

                        <table class="tableizer-table">

                        </style>

                        <table class="tableizer-table">

                        My observations:

                        1) I found the perfect sweet spot for errors. With Gather at 100 for both sides I'm starting to see some booted balls (for the user at least). 55 for CPU throwing seems to be the best. I haven't changed it in 10 games, where the first 5 i had 0 and now I have 6 (1 or 2 have been booted balls not throwing errors).

                        2) Obviously the CPU had been scorching me in average and hits. I wanted to turn up user control to 35 but that would eliminate walks, which are already low since I'm only giving up 1.4 per game. Instead, I'm going to drop CPU contact down to 45. Should be perfect. Instead of making solid contact they may strike out 1 or 2 times more or ground out a little bit more. That's fine since my strikeout average would be fine if it went a little higher.

                        3) After upping aggression to 60 you can see a huge difference. CPU went from 0 triples in 5 games and 3 doubles to 3 triples and 6 doubles! Maybe 55 would be the sweet spot but since doubles are still a little low I'll go with 60 for now (MLB average is around 1.74 a game). For my next round of testing I'm going to use your idea of lowering outfield speed to 40 and see if it can get that double total up. Now, lowering that speed will increase hits, BUT, with contact at 45 for the CPU it should offset.

                        4) I'm almost convinced CPU power at 80 and user power at 55 is perfect. I hit HR's with brian roberts and elvis andrus. All have around 50 power. Awesome! This might be due to lowering CPU pitch success to 60, which you set to 65 to offset power at 55, but I think 60 works great for now. CPU is getting a fair share of homeruns too. All in all HR's are right where they should be. RBIs are a little high, but that's due to the high hit total for the CPU and maybe skewed from some blowout games.

                          Great, 1 game after setting CPU contact to 45, the Yankees light me up for 8 runs on 13 hits with 3 HR's. We'll see how it plays out over 4 more games.

                          Also, I may be having a timing issue at 75 pitch speed. Which may be why I'm striking out so much and not walking enough. But I fear if I lower pitch speed, then I'll start hitting like crazy. I'll keep at it and see if I can somehow figure my timing out...A.J. Burnett should not strike me out 8 times :-P

                            So, after reviewing your suggestions (and we have a very similar style of play!), here's some conclusions I'm seeing:

                            - raise cpu gather error to 100
                            - lower cpu batting contact down to 45
                            - raise cpu baserunning aggression to 55 (personally, I think 60 is too high - they make a lot of dumb baserunning mistakes causing dumb outs)
                            - MAYBE lower cpu pitch success to 60
                            - MAYBE lower cpu OF run speed to 40

                            (I'm not going to lower user OF throw speed - the animations will kill you on balls hit in the corners).

                            Are these what you're thinking?... Thanks! Really appreciate this!

                              Give or take a few personal preferences that looks exactly like what I'm looking to roll with. I agree with the 55 for aggression, it's the happy medium I'm looking for. I'm really afraid to touch power numbers, I think they're perfect which is why success at 60 works for me. It gives you that 1 extra meatball per game to drive. Maybe, and it's a big maybe, I'll lower CPU power to 75, but I want to wait and test a little bit more.

                              I'll test it through five games, as I'm sure you will too, and we'll compare our results and see if it's the FINAL of the final version

                                I might have to drop pitch speed to 70 or 65. I struck out 13 times against wainwright as the padres. I just can't pick up the ball anymore for some reason lol.
