Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Melky Cabrera DID hit 18 homers last YEAR, not in the last YEARS.

Of course sliders change the attributes. But YOU didn't read my previous posts. Because of too HIGH rated players, you can't tweak the sliders in such a way that the LOW rated players play like they do in real. I f you would tweak the sliders in this way, the HIGH rated players would simply play like gods. And if you keep the sliders in such a way that the HIGH rated players play like they do in real, the LOW rated players play way worse than in real life.
This is because the gap between high and low rated players is way too big.

I forgot the " ' " in my post because I am no English native speaker. I wanted to say "last year's stats" not "last years stats". But since you marked bold what is the problem in your opinion, I don't know what you want to say me either. I say "last year" and you tell me "I do not talk about the past years, I talk about the last year". What?

I know the league averages. You said they would match your game stats pretty close. Comparing what you said with the stats of the games you posted, like I said, there is only ONE game out of five which would match the calculated averages. When we draw the overall averages of the 5 games you posted, they don't match the calculated averages of the real MLB either. THAT is what I said.

For the record, 2k doesn't just look at last year. They look at the last few years. Obviously 2k thinks ladt year was a fluke for Melky, and I'm inclined to agree since his career slugging is under .400.

That is partially right. The problem is that for some players they look only ONE year back and for others they look a FEW years back.
Melky hat a career ear last year, that is right.
But look at Cory Luebke. Of course he had a good ERA and a good K/9 rating. BUT 2k didn't count in that he played only 46 games. And of those 46 games only 17 (!) were starts. There is no reason that they rate him so high ingame.

Nevertheless I will stop to communicate about sliders at this point. First I will put some time in correcting some ratings and then I will see what comes around.

I don't see this mentioned in any slider threads, but I'm assuming that you are controlling the base running and fielding?

For those of us who have it set for automatic, is it the AI run/field sliders that are being used for my runners and fielders?

            Still getting good games.

            1) marlins (CPU) & Astros (me). I lost 9-1 as josh Johnson threw 10 k's and the marlins lit me up. Could only manage 3 hits against them to their 13.

            2) MLB today indians (cpu) @ reds (me). This game was filled with long balls. 6 total, 2 for the CPU (chisenhall) and 4 for me (votto, Bruce, Francisco, ludwick). All home runs for me were with L-stick aiming. It's still not a cheese move though, just had a lucky game. Tied 5-5 in the 10th and Francisco got a pinch hit walk off.

All in all great games and still getting variety. CPU still strikes out too much though :-/...

After all the roster work I've done, finally got a game in for myself...

Random matchup of Marlins (me) at Nationals (cpu). I lost 1-0...

Josh Johnson went 8 ip, 4 hits, 6 k. Gave up a solo HR to Werth in the 5th inning. The replay showed Werth digging out a low and away fastball to opposite field that was a no-doubter.

I had my chances...3 guys on 2B but couldn't get it done. I only got 4 hits, but 2 doubles. I got impatient and swung at too many first pitches. But a fun game, and was good to play one like this finally.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Played two games with these sliders. Only changes I made was infield/outfield throw speed are both at 50.

First game was Tommy Hanson vs. Gio Gonzalez. Pretty tight game. I pitched out of a few jams but otherwise the Nationals offense was less than potent. Gio pitched a good game but I was able to scratch a few runs across and Dan Uggla hit a home run.

Second game was Tim Hudson vs. Chris Carpenter. Hudson wasn't terribly sharp, I have trouble executing the sinker pitch, but I pitched out of several jams and only gave up 1 run. Hudson went 6 and 2/3rds. Carpenter took a shutout into the 9th until he gave up home runs to Prado and McCann. Kimbrel gave up a lead off double in the bottom of the 9th but was able to hold on.

The user offense feels PERFECT. I went up against two good pitchers and was pretty anxious at the plate because I hadn't played in a while. I did play a partial game against Joe Blanton and was rocking him pretty good. The cpu offense might need the slightest bump. Maybe just +5 contact as I did have quite a few K's in the couple games I played.

Latest updates on page 1 - post 1...

Nothing drastic, but am taking your feedback into consideration. The one area you might have issue with is the cpu sacrifice bunt tendency. If you are using the 2K default rosters (which is what I'm working from) please note they have REALLY DUMB bunt ratings for players, MOST of which are WAY OVERBLOWN. So I've lowered it because I've seen instances where there's back-to-back bunts by the cpu, which just is not realistic...it's a roster issue. If you are content with where you are just use the last set I posted a few days ago. Glad you guys are enjoying them!

                              PEER PRESSURE!

I switched to 45/55 like you have inf/outfielder arm strength and it feels good. I did have to lower cpu catcher strength/accuracy to 40/40. Kept getting thrown out with Michael Bourn so that was a pretty good sign it needed to change. I should also note that I play with 25/25 user bunting because I'm just not that good at it and I also was using 50 user throw accuracy but I think I'm going to take that down to 25 as I've gotten better at it. These are all personal preference (skill, or lack thereof) changes, don't suggest them for everyone.

Played two games with the +5 to cpu contact and that worked pretty good.

First game was Ricky Nolasco vs. Jair Jurrjens. Knocked Nolasco out early in the 4th - had a big inning where I was able to string a bunch of 2 out hits together. The HR I hit was with Chipper Jones batting right handed (63 power I believe), solo shot in the 9th and it's good to see HR's with the non power guys.

Second game was Shawn Marcum vs. Brandon Beachy. The Brewers offense always gives me trouble. They could've scored a lot more runs but I spaced the 13 hits out pretty well and didn't walk many people. The HR was by Aramis Ramirez on a high 2 seamer from Beachy. Alex Gonzalez went 4/4 against his former team. This was a good tight seesaw battle. I had Pastornicky at second in the bottom of the ninth but David Ross nor Michael Bourn could drive him in against Axford.

I stepped back down to All Star for a few games and then went back up to these for franchise, and I noticed a big difference. This set really makes you crap your pants when you see "weak"--you know you're going to get hammered. And after playing on All Star, where I could basically nail my pitches and catch lots of the plate, I'm now in a position where I have to pitch around certain batters and use the walk and pitches outside the zone strategically.

I also really like the strike zone tendency.
