Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Hi, just joined this site. I have not played mlb 2k12 since '07.

I like this years game, but having a little trouble hitting. I'm using the

cubs which is not the best hitting team. (to say the least)

I'm not using your sliders. I don't think I would be very good using your

sliders. I'm using the pro sliders with a little tweak to them. I'm using

    classic hitting.

The pitching is easy most of the time but I'm having trouble sometimes

hitting. I have a few questions for everybody. Do you use the left stick

to hit? or is it better just to leave this alone. I tried both ways and I

really see no difference. When I use the stick I seem to swing at more

pitches out of the zone. (I seem to be concerntrating on trying to aim the

    ball with the stick)

Some games I hit really well, but most games it's like 3 to 5 hits a game.

Anybody's suggestions & input would be greatly appreciated. I might use

these sliders in the future if I get any better.

Does anyone have problem with inside the park home runs, primarily against you.

Its like this, batter bats the ball to the wall and starts running. Outfielder comes to the ball, throws it to some infielder and infielder just stands there when it caches the ball, not throwing the ball to the cacher or whoever on last base, like it dont see the runner, and the dude scores.
I have this happened far too often, dont think its about sliders but maybe some of you know what it is it about

I haven't had one against me in about 30 games but I did have one with Desmond Jennings on a missed dive where the ball rolled to the 420 sign in fenway.

doesnt have to be home run, ordinary run also, just had another one.
outfielder throws the ball to 2basemen while the ai runner just passed last base and running to score. and my guy just stands there not even attempting to throw the ball. they would score either way but i want to see the hustle.
also, they had a man on second base, but i dont think its because of that.

maybe some slider can help with this issue ?

gdmn, i have a lot of them, almost every game. seems im in a minority cause i dont see anyone else posting about them.
its allways when outfielder throws to the infielder, outfielder reacts perfectly but when infielder gets the ball he stands there for a second instead of throwing it inmediately to the needed base, enough for a run, nevermind if its mine or cpu`s cause i use ai outfields.

otherwise, great set, i completely transferred to it.

i would see this happen also but seems like when I started throwing to cut off man instead of 2nd baseman it stopped it. every now and then I give up triple when it should just be a double. for me I may have to move outfielder throw speed back to 55 for cpu because im getting thrown out at 2nd sometimes on balls off the wall. it seems like it works good against cpu though. I really like these sliders and this game a lot though; I own the show also and I have barely played it. I guess i'm burnt out from 3 years of the show. Im really having a blast with this game. the one thing I wish they would fix though is the base running controls; they are awful. its an adventure whenever you get more than 1 runner on base. I do think the system works you just have to be very precise and queue the runner way ahead and not touch it again.

Was the goal/logic of this to see more infield hits? I'm having a terrible time getting any double plays...maybe that's the way it is supposed to be, but it seems like the first throw never gets to 2nd base quick enough.

I'd like to see closer plays at first though, and some infield hits...

                    Changes - Monday, March 19th @ 3:55 pm - Page 1 / Post 1 updated:

                    - changed CPU AI Pitch Success from 75 to 85. Good pitchers now pitch like good pitchers. I LIKE this setting a lot!

                    - lowered USER Gather Error Frequency down to 55 from 50. Was seeing too many fielding errors as hard hit balls were nearly always bouncing off defenders.

                    - lowered CPU AI Gather Error Frequency down to 45 from 50. See above comment.

I think I'm about set. Regarding your questions, you'll just have to consider the logic used and figure it out. Or, try a different set. I am getting BOMBARDED by private messages, and I just don't have the time to answer them.. sorry, but you guys are sharp enough to know what changes/tweaks to make based upon your individual issues.

One subtle change - 8:45 pm on Monday night (3-19):

CPU AI Pitch Success lowered to 80 down from 85. Was too hard to get any sense of the pitches at 85. I personally think these are now about perfect, given the coding issues within the game itself. Having some outstanding games with these...

I've played two games with these new settings that were made today and the first game was the Braves versus the rays I was the rays and I lost 7 to 2 and the second game I played was Twins versus Angels I was the angels and I won 8 to 1 and it's a better experience I like the slider so far and they're awesome.

                          harsh,

You are undoubtedly a saint of the slider world. I just bought this game today, knowing that it wouldn't be much better/different, but I did anyway. One, because I love baseball too dang much, and two, because I knew you would once again come out with an awesome slider set. The first thing I did was go straight to here, integrated the sliders, and then played the game. They seem very promising so far, and I think that 2K now has definitely done some things to improve gameplay itself. I'm sure you appreciate this, because I've tried designing a slider set before, and it's just not as easy/fun when you're given an inadequate game that won't allow you to fix certain things. Anyway, Bravo! I look forward to your updates and an enjoyable season of baseball at home, right here on my Xbox.

can anyone please tell me what running slider game use when i play with ai base running & outfield.

not to bash anything, but i dont see the reason why my & cpu running sliders are different values.

i understand why the difference in batting in pitching, just wouldnt want my players & opposition players to run differently because its computer controlled in both cases. tnx

If you have stuff on auto field and auto running, just make the User sliders have the same values as the CPU sliders, for the ones that apply to both sides.

The game has some slight differences regarding CPU and User running speed. The differences in the 2 sets of sliders was necessary, in my opinion. But again, if you don't like that then tweak to fit your style.... But I really can't help your question as I'm pretty set with these sliders. They are about as perfect as I'll get them, and the variety is amazing and very fun!
