How do we win without him? the same way we do with him...outscore you opponent for 9 innings

Seriously...we wouldn't unless we got fair trade value in return.

you have got to be kidding me, boston won't make the playoffs without manny. he hits rightes and lefties well and is an rbi machine. even though he is leading the majors in rbi i still think he is having an off year. his batting average is pathetic. the past few years he has been in the .320-.340 range now he is like at .275 i think. this will also hurt david ortiz.

doesn't look like it will happen at this point. Too bad, but the Mets will find a way to loose no matter who they have.

Well as a huge Mets fan, I must say that's the truth, I've seen it happen to much to long.

Re: Max Kellerman just reported on espn radio

Now's not the time to make the deals...the Mets lost two straight games to the Astros in what might be the biggest series of the season. It's time to trade for next year, not this year...and giving up the two top prospects is not doing that.

Anyway...as for the idea that bringing in Manny doesn't help the Mets offense a great deal...that's just wrong. You plug Manny into the three-hole, and Beltran moves to the two and has less pressure on him and may start playing like the star that he is. So it's like adding two big bats in the lineup.

And I'm surprised no one mentioned that Boston is getting a great deal back in the trade...about $10-$15 million to spend in free agency. Maybe more, since I don't know how much Huff and Cammy make, but I'd imagine they'd let Damon go if Cameron is brought in. Who know who they are targeting in the offseason.

Manny wouldn't have been much of a help the last two nights. Astacio and Rodriguez are going to be good for that rotation when Clemens retires. The Astros may have the best performing rotation in the majors right now.

Knowing the Mets history, Kazmir will settle down and win multiple Cy Youngs. Same with Petit, Milledge would be a consistent All-Star.. while Manny would be a disappointment and Zambrano would start reverting to his overly wild ways after a couple of months of being a very good pitcher.

I havent read every post in this thread, but so far it seems every Mets fan is overlooking the fact that they gert Baez, an All-Star relieve nearly every team wants, who could greatly improve that crappy bullpen. Also, Manny puts up his big power numbers because of the guys around him, but he is still hitting just .270! You have to get more than that for 20 mil a year.

I still think the Mets will finish at best third behind the Braves and Marlins though, trade or not.

Baez would definitely be a huge upgrade for the long run. The problem is, the Mets have already tried to pry him from TB one on one, and the Devil Rays wanted too much.

Re: Max Kellerman just reported on espn radio

Baez isn't really an all-star reliever...he's just been there because the D-Rays need a player to represent them. So it's not like they're getting a K-Rod or Joe Nathan. And closing in TB and NY are two different beasts. Plus, who knows if Looper might be even worse in the 8th. If it's not a clear upgrade and you're giving up blue chip prospects, it's not worth it.

Omar's going to do something stupid before the trade deadline...this only confirms it. I just pray that he doesn't move Wright. I know...it would seem that there was no way...but I won't be happy until the trade deadline passes. At this point, I'd prefer no deal over any deal.

Re: Max Kellerman just reported on espn radio

We'll know in a little while if this deal is a go or not, the Red Sox appear to be the team backing out because they realize they are definitely not getting enough offense in return for Manny. Cameron and Huff combined do not have as many Home Runs or RBI's as Manny, which weakens the middle of their lineup considerably.
If Theo is getting cold feet about making this deal that is a good sign, the Sox chances of repeating a world championship without Manny are very slim, this not like trading Nomar. Nomar was becoming a problem and was not contributing to the team, Manny leads the majors in RBI's, you can't replace that.
Don't trade Manny for the sake of trading him.

Um thats the readon you would wan't to get rid of him, if the guy's doesn't want to be there then grant him his wish, just remember he could make the team a living hell and he could give the organization, they can't make him feel anything. The cards are in Manny's hands not the Redsox.

Manny's not going to make the team a living hell, besides this is the 3rd time in 4 years he has asked for trade and it has not effected his play or the team, this won't be any different.
Manny has been around long enough to know the bussiness aspects of the game, the Sox are trying to win now so trading away an MVP calibur player at this point in the season is not good bussiness. If Manny wants out so badly and the Red Sox are willing to try and accomodate him thats fine, i'm sure Manny can hold on untill the season is over to go somewhere else.

18-1 hell of a season regardless
