I'm sorry, but I don't think many GM's label Wood as a frontline starter anymore.

Potential #2 or 3 with serious injury concerns.

And Tejada is the best SS in baseball right now.

Wood has been injury prone the last 2 years, while Tejada plays every day. Tejada is considered one of the top 3 best in his position, same thing cannot be said for Kerry. Kerry has topped out at 14 wins which was in 2003. Even last year's horrible team had a 15 game winner (in Rodrigo Lopez) and a 13 game winner (in Bruce Chen). Tejada in the past 5 years have roughly averaged a .300 average, 100 runs scored, 30 HR's, and 100+ RBI season.

Can Wood be good? Sure. But I don't consider him a front line starter. He just strikes out a bunch of guys... but will walk a bunch of guys too. Now, if Prior was involved in the deal... but our FO is ******** and the Cubs FO probably ISN'T that ********.

As inept as we are in the FO, I don't think we're that stupid. Plus, isn't Manny a 10/5 player? He can reject any trade offer thrown at him. I doubt he'll wanna come to Baltimore.

OK, is Tejada a third basemen waiting to happen? If his age says 30, I wouldnt be too sure hes not actually 32...but nevertheless, his value is as a short stop. You guys are basing it on what was more than what will be.

Kerry Wood is 28. So how much more celing does Wood have over Tejada?

I dont have a problem with you scrutinizing Wood but its probably not worth it to trade Prior let alone Prior and Pie which is what was suggested.

I was just voicing a trade that I'd do if I was the Orioles. They hold all the keys. Tejada said he wants to leaver, but he hasn't went to the FO and demanded a trade, so if you're the O's you ask for as much as physically possible.

We weren't even talking about Prior and Pie (if you note my previous post, I admitted that a trade involving Prior is highly unlikely). We were just scrutinizing your assertion that Wood is a front line starter... which he is not.

As for potential trade partners, we can pretty much rule out any AL East foes. Unless Angelos is THAT stupid, he won't trade to someone within division. Now we have to see which available teams have money to spend. Mets? They've been spending money like hotcakes, but I think they're pretty high on Reyes. Cardinals? Maybe even the Giants or a darkhorse would be the Dodgers. All speculation on my part.

Why do u keep going to the Age for Tejeda, He's the best Shortstop in baseball and has been for the last 3 or 4 years, Plus Roger Clemens is 43 now i think and he's better then Mark Prior, Kerry Wood and Carlos Zambrano who are all in there 20's somewhere. Id trade Mark Prior for Miguel Tejeda very easily..Tejeda in that lineup and then ur rotation is still...Zambrano, Wood, Maddux and Rusch..Tejeda would be a huge in my opinion..Plus none of this will happen anyway unless u play mvp baseball 05

I agree completely. No one should feel sympathy for Tejada for going after the big bucks with Baltimore. Still, if his whining could get him in a Red Sox uniform I won't mind.

The only way, and I mean the only way, Tejada could end up in Boston would be for Manny Ramirez and maybe a pitcher with the Red Sox picking up some of the money on Ramirez's contract. Yeah, the Orioles do not want to trade him within the division, but if its for a right-handed hitter on about the same level as Tejada then it makes it slightly more likely. It's not unheard of for a star player to be traded within the division (Drew Bledsoe a few years ago to Buffalo) so the only way it could happen is if both teams essentially swapped stars. I still think there's a less than 1% chance of it happening though.

At the moment they dont have leverage at all. The Cubs are excited about Cedeno and Alex Gonzalez of the Marlins is available for a lot less than Miggy. Miggy has been a stellar player but there area too many other substitutes out there to give up what Baltimore wants. Once the FAs are gone and a team has an injury, the leverage you speak of will exist...but not before then.

Ive already explained why. I say his value is as a SS and you introduce examples of pitchers who are 43 into the discussion. Try conjuring up something thats relevant next time.
