I must admit, alot of interesting suggestions here. But I think the Orioles should address as many players to their rosters as they can get. Duquette can have the players he invested in as a GM for the Mets. Milledge, Benson, Matsui, and Diaz are Duquette's projects. But, we also want Julio too.
Milledge is one of the top 10 minor league players in Baseball. I hate giving him up. Oriole fans will have a special 5 tool-player in CF for years to enjoy.
Benson will give you a valid starting pitcher for at least 2 more years.
Matsui will replace Tejada at SS. There are offensive possibilities with him. Hey, you never know.
Diaz came in the Burnitz dump. He has offensive potential numbers and could complement Gibbons. He could deliver 20 + HRs in your ball park.
Now, help us get Manny!Comment

The Red Sox have already offered Manny Ramirez for Miguel Tejada, according to the Boston Herald, and the Washington Post says the Orioles haven't ruled out the possibility.
"It is a logical suggestion," one Orioles official said of a Ramirez-for-Tejada swap. "It does seem unlikely. But who knows?" The Red Sox could include Bronson Arroyo or a quality prospect if necessary. If the Orioles don't want Manny, Boston could conceivably put together a package without Ramirez, but they'd likely need a third team willing to take Ramirez in order to pull it off. One huge issue for any Tejada suitor has to be the shortstop's right to demand a trade after next season if he's dealt now. Tejada undoubtedly sees how the market has changed since he's signed his six-year, $72 million contract and must believe he should be making at least $15 million per year. Unless Tejada is willing to give up his right to demand the trade after 2007, any team that parts with the necessary talent to pry him away would be making a big mistake. Dec. 10 - 3:33 am etComment

Re: Tejada wants out of Baltimore
Since Kris Benson has already been offered to Baltimore, why not get the Mets involved and send Milledge and someone else to the Orioles. The Mets can get Manny, the Sox get Tejada. The O's want pitching and outfield, the Mets still want Manny regardless of the lull, and we need a shortstop. We can lose Bronson and Murphy/Moss if need be to sweeten it. I don't know...makes sense to me...........Comment

Although, we'd then really need another OF. Who's left in FA?Comment

If we trade Manny, we need a right handed bat. Marte would block a trade for Glaus most likely, so I'd much rather have the need for a corner outfielder than the all-important SS.Comment

Originally posted by FootballForeverwhy in the world would Oakland want Tejada again, I don't think so my freind. Thats makes no scense.
Miggy left the A's on good terms and said he wants to win. At this point the A's are a better club than the O's. The O's would get the number 1 starter they're missing and a young proven SS to replace Miggy who is also locked up for 4 more seasons.Comment

Originally posted by asianflowActually it makes a lot of sense. The A's biggest need is a power bat for the middle of the order. Also Zito is entering his final year of his contract and the A's have a surplus of starting pitching.
