I mean, back when he was pretty much a stud. Now, I think he puts all of the other big and old guys to shame in terms of a good outfield defense.
Bonds is a terrible fielder at this point in his career.

I remember him and Bob Walk always played well against the Pads.

I love when people will defend the player on their favorite team, no matter what they have to say to do it.

Aggressiveness and speed do not make you a good fielder. They make you fast and aggressive.

That said, Eric Byrnes and Alex Sanchez are terrible outfielders.

Of course Conti is going to say that. He probably still has aspirations to become a dealer again, so he's not going to throw himself under the bus as easily as saying everything despiraging about himself in the book is true.

Selig and the higher-ups may have been well aware of this, true, but they weren't the ones injecting Bonds or placing drops under his tongue. As a grown man, he made those decisions for himself.

Come on now. I know he's your favorite player, and I know you're a Giants fan, but he can no longer be considered a plus fielder.

No doubt, I wont call him terrible he is still average, but he is no longer a threat in the field. In his prime Bonds had a Great first step, quick release and accurate arm and that is what won him so many gold gloves!

Like I said, that statement can be said for a lot of people, so when it comes up in my case, that's the automatic thought process when reading my posts. But take away that damn Giants logo and put a Yankees, Cubs, or A's logo on it (or trade Bonds to one of those teams). I still say the same thing because he is my favorite player, not because he is on my favorite team (and I honestly think they are only my favorite team because I live here. If I lived anywhere else, I think the Braves would be my favorite team).

He is not that bad out there, but he is not great anymore!

Granted, I don't believe that Pujols is on steroids. Hell, my approach on believing who has taken steroids and who hasn't is so miniscule that I still believe that Sosa (who I hate more than any player in the majors because of his undeservative overratedness) was not on steroids until undeniable proof.

But, as for Sammy's case (like I've said before), he had some lucky seasons in my mind. That, and his jealousy came in the Home Run Derbies. At Fenway in 1999, he hit 1 home run while McGwire had a 13 homer round. The next year in Atlanta, I believe he used the cork (same in Miller Park in 2002), when all of his balls launched. After all, he admitted that he uses a corked bat during batting practice to "put on a show". I think the same should be said for his Home Run Derby appearances.
Of course Sammy did. Like Bonds the ego is too big, and they have to be the center of attention. A poster on these boards said it best and it is one of the reasons Bonds is hated. He hates the media with a passion, but he is jealous of the home run sham of 1998 so he takes roids to get better and break records to get the attention of the people he hates. What a sad sad loser.
