That's not what he's saying, In short he's saying that people overromanticize certain sports figures while not accepting others because the don't fit the prototype of the all-american sports figure, As soon as they step outside of the norm speak their minds people quickly jump all over them.

The problem is, you assume I don't like him because he's arrogant and black (Rahkem's words) and not simply because he's a cheater. If it was McGwire instead of Bonds I would hold the same bitterness towards him. It has nothing to do with Bonds being outspoken or not the prototype of an American sports figure. It has to do with the fact that he cheated. It's really that simple.

I never said you didn't like him because he's black. Don't fool yourself in thinking that only because there is supposed proof of him cheating is the only reason people dislike him. You have alot of ignorant people in the world.

I know that's why I specified they were Rahkhem's words. I was trying to address both your posts in one reply.

I don't assume cheating is the only reason people don't like him. I was just saying it's the only reason I don't like him. (or McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, Giambi, Canseco, Sheffield, etc, etc)

Yeah I suggest we don't go into the black/white issue.

Rahkhem has brought this up before in a veiled sort of way and I've let it go. Not this time. It's against the TOS and will only lead to bannings.

if you ask me its all a bunch of he said she said BS...... that still dont give people the right to make him the cover boy for the whole thing.... if he didnt know he took them thats not cheating....... do you know most skin care creams have a type of steriod in it, for instance my lil sister astma(misspelled) cream contains steriods, did she or my parents know? nope untill it was on the news. Also alot of people is unaware of the many chemicals that is in our foods today..... so basically this who thing is overrated untill we have written proof that he took it on purpose.

Go read Game of Shadows. It's not he said she said. The fact that Bonds knowingly used Steroids isn't up for debate anymore.

It'd be pretty difficult to read the book and have any reasonable doubt Bonds had not taken steroids.

Ahh my favorite argument. People have cheated before so it's ok for Bonds to cheat now.

This is not the argument and you know it. The problem is that people are so amazingly distraught with this concept and not distraught with others, because its Babe Ruth, like Babe Ruth is some saint. The major problem that I have with all this, is that people really only want this "known" cheater to have an asterisk, but don't want to put any by the other known cheaters. Call a spade a spade. People just don't want to admit that their pure hatred for the man clouds their judgment, because if he was a nice guy, he would not get the venom being thrown at him right now.

P.S. about the "race" thing, you mean to tell me I can't say black or white? I merely used black as a description of the man. Now if that's a problem, I'll cease, but I was under the impression that implying it was a racial issue was against the rules, not merely stating his characteristics. I consider black and arrogant to be the same type of adjectives in the context of my statement.

P.P.S. And if it is just about cheating, why not the venom towards Alex Sanchez, or Juan Rincon, or having a lambasting of all the minor leaguers that have taken it?

Because Barry Bonds is chasing the greatest record in all of sports. I haven't seen very many people here that want to put an asterisk besides Bonds records. I, for one, would be against it. Let people make up their own minds as to who they think is the real home run king.

I agree that Bonds would not be getting as much **** as he is if he was somebody that had a good relationship with the media, but hey, if he hadn't taken the stuff in the first place he wouldn't have this problem.

And about Juan Rincon or Alex Sanchez, be honest do you even know what they look like? I don't think anyone here that blasts Bonds thinks it's okay for marginal guys to take steroids while great players shouldn't be allowed, but why are we going to sit here and talk about Juan Rincon or Alex Sanchez? I think it's bad they took steroids, but the only reason I know their names is because the tested positive for steroids, so I don't really have a reason to discuss them.

The only reason I used Juan Rincon and Alex Sanchez (By the way, I do know what they look like and who they are, I'm a baseball nut ) is because of the poster who said that it doesn't matter who Barry is, cheating is cheating (paraphrasing). This is just not true, it definitely matters who Barry is. This is the exact reason people don't talk about Juan Rincon and Alex Sanchez, who still play today. Everybody saw that I wrote "black" in my statement, and figured I was throwing the race card, but that wasn't even close to the point. The point is that because of who Barry is, that is why the venom is thrown his way. The steroids is mere icing on the cake, as opposed to being the foundation. People just won't admit it for fear of being labeled a racist, but let's be real here, the main reason people want Barry to disappear is not because of steroids (And to be honest, if it is, you SERIOUSLY need help).

To piggyback on what RahKhem said, Tony Kornheiser made an interesting point on PTI the other day. He said that there are hundreds of players that have used steroids, but only Barry Bonds has 715 HRs. If he was just some no name journeyman, no would care whether or not he took steroids. But because of who he is and the way he treated the media and fans earlier in his career, people want to see him crucified.

But because of who he is and the way he treated the media and fans earlier in his career, people want to see him crucified.

To me, it's not who he is or how he treated people, it's what he's doing. I don't care as much about Juan Rincon, Alex Sanchez or any other bum who did steroids because they're not making a mockery of some of the games most hallowed numbers.

Wow. Ok....

First the cream that your sister uses is probably a different type of steroid (non hormonal). These are often used in medicine. Hell, even I took these medicine type steroids when I had surgery to repair a deviated septum (prescribed by my Dr.). It reduced swelling.

And if you believe Giambi is guilty (which I'm sure everyone does) then Bonds falls into the same exact category. Both admitted to a grand jury. Bonds just claims he didn't know what it was. Even if he didn't (which I have a hard time believing) he still did them and reaped the benefits of the steroids. Therefore it's cheating.
