I knew I was forgetting someone (Padilla) and I really didn't think Odalis was that young. Good list, Kerplunk.

      Oswalt-
      Career record 33-12
      Career ERA 2.91
      Career opposing avg. .242

      Pineiro-
      w-l 21-9
      era 3.08
      avg. .244

I admit, Oswalt has slightly better stats, but I would definetly say they are comparable and should be spoken in the same sentence

Weaver on the other hand, may have great stuff but that does not make him nearly as good as Oswalt or Pineiro
career stats (he also has 4 yrs in the league as compared to 2)

      44-54
      4.30
      .265

Pineiro has a good arm, and is going to be improving every year. I agree with a lot of the lists, there are quite a few young pitchers that are going to make an impact in the Majors this coming season.

As for Matsui, I agree in a sense that he could struggle. Playing in New York for the first time and playing in the Majors for the first time is not a good combination. He'll have to learn the culture, and learn how to adapt to the Big Leagues, and New York. He'll have some rough times, but I still think he can at least hit .280 20 HR 70-80 RBI's, with the potential to improve next year as he adapts to Big League pitching.

ccplu59- I never said Weaver was better than Pineiro, just that he had better stuff. If he ever learns how to pitch, he will have a better overall career than Pineiro. I doubt that will happen, though.

Yeah, Oswalt and Pineiro have pretty similar numbers, but Oswalt has a lot better stuff, and the biggest thing..... Pineiro plays in a pitcher's park, while Oswalt pitches in the band box known as Minute Maid Park. It is really tough to keep the run scoring down there. That makes his low ERA even more impressive.

I am not trying to rag on Joel at all. I think he will be a really solid pitcher, its just that his stuff is somewhat ordinary. I really like his moxie, though, and he should be good for a long time.

actually, the Yankees are trying to trade Mondesi, they've been talking to the Pirates, but the Yanks would have to pay 6 out of the 7 millioin of his contract, but they're trying to change that..

                          SportsorDeath-
You make a good point, I must concur. Safeco is definetly more pitcher friendly than Minute Maid. Also, I do agree that Jeff Weaver has electric stuff, his movement is wicked, I just don't think he knows how to use it. The way I see it, pitchers are successful when they have good stuff-and when they know how to use it. Having one or the other won't make you good.
