Morris has been decent (7-5, 3.55) and could have some value with a thin trade market for starting pitchers (Seattle and the Mets being the most likely suitors). Durham on the other hand probably stays. All of his numbers are down from last season and there is little market for 2B (especially among contenders). However, the last time we saw Durham traded during the season was in 2002 when the White Sox traded him to the A's. Durham was the DH for most of his time in Oakland and maybe a team like Minnesota could have use for Durham as a DH (has to be better than Jason Tyner, right Twins fans?).

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread
I would say yes. Vidro has a higher Batting Average and more hits but Durham has better all around numbers.
If Seattle were to remove Vidro from the DH spot (trade/release) i think they would probably give the AB's to Ben Broussard. Broussard has more power than either Durham or Vidro and can hit for a better average.Comment

On another note, the M's better not trade for Matt Morris. It makes no sense for them to trade away prospects to pick up Morris in a minimal upgrade. Probably something Bavasi would do though.Last edited by Coug00; 07-11-2007, 07:09 PM.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

I predict that Walt Jocketty still considers the Cardinals to be in the hunt, and brings in either a starter or some type of big bat using our depth in the bullpen and Anthony Reyes as trade bait.Comment

Can any of you Reds fans explain to me why you despise Adam Dunn so much? I've always liked him, but Reds fans give him so much grief.Comment

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread
Terry Ryan was quoted in the Pioneer Press yesterday as saying a deal was "more than likely" to occur. He also added he didn't care if it were a rent-a-player or a long-term solution and has implied that Pohlad has okay'd him spending some money. Who knows though?Comment

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread
Rumor Mill: I have seen on various websites that the St. Louis Cardinals are in the process of making a deal with the Texas Rangers concerning Anthony Reyes and Joaquin Benoit. Don't have any more details than that although I would assume that the Cards would have to give up a couple top-level (John Rodriguez? Colby Rasmus? Brian Anderson? Skip Schumaker?) prospects to land Benoit.
Anyways, take that for what it's worth.Comment

Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread
Reportedly the Twins are among 3 or 4 teams interested in Shea Hillenbrand. Hillenbrand hated being a DH and backup player in Anaheim and that is basically what he would be in Minnesota. Also, i don't get this because they already have Jeff Cirillo who plays 1B/3B/DH and can fill in at 2B and basically can give them the same lack of production that Hillenbrand could.Comment
