I'll take Lohse. Nothing special, but he's a better option than Eaton, Kendrick, and Durbin.

          Lohse is so inconsistent.

One game he will look like Cy Young the next he will look like Bobby Ayala.

Even if Lohse isn't better than any of those guys, he pushes one of them to the pen and all those guys are better than the Condreys and Gearys of the world.

Lohse isn't a bad starter. He gave us some good starts (when he was with the Twins), but he doesn't has have his "stuff" every outing. He's pretty much hit or miss.

Not really a rumor, but more of a thought since the Laird/Benoit for Pie thought is already out there. Why not include Wilkerson too since he would platoon with Murton in left since Matt is a righty and Brad's a lefty. Also Brad can play every outfield position. Not sure this would improve the value of the trade that much more for the Rangers, but it would clear space allowing them to bring up Victor Diaz or Freddy Guzman or just start Pie in the outfield with Byrd and Nelson and see if that's next year's outfield. Especially if they're skeptical if they can land Hunter or Andruw in the offseason to patrol center.

                      Braves Discussing Arroyo With Reds

According to Yahoo's Tim Brown, the Braves are talking to the Reds about Bronson Arroyo. This wouldn't be the first time they've shown interest in him.
Despite his decline this year, Arroyo would still probably be the best starter dealt this July. John Schuerholz would really be going for broke if he snagged Arroyo. I have to imagine Jo-Jo Reyes and/or Yunel Escobar would be involved, because they're running out of prospects.

                        Felix Pie Not Available

Multiple sources had been saying Felix Pie was available, so it's nice to see Cubs GM Jim Hendry debunk that talk today. He won't be traded, and hasn't been discussed. Cubs fans can exhale.

There's no way the Braves give up Escobar to get Arroyo.

Sounds to me like you are exchanging garbage for more garbage. Lohse is extremely frustrating and looks like a HOF'er one start and a amateur ball pitcher another game. He is also a huge hothead and doesn't take criticism well. He beat the crap out of Rod Gardenhire's office door when he was demoted last year as a Twin. I wish the guy would have lived up to his potential, as he was fun to watch when he was on.

This deal does absolutely nothing for me. This means that Nick Punto will be be our 2B for the rest of the season. I was under the impression we were trying to keep him off of the field...

I doubt the deadline will stop the Reds from trading this season. Krivsky made a couple moves after the deadline last year and it wouldn't surprise me if he did the same this year.
