If we're going to acquire any player, we're going to have to give an arm and a leg. Which sucks, because we just traded our best hitter (average wise) for two career minor league players. I don't have a real problem with us (the Twins) trading Castillo, I have a problem with what we got in return. Obviously as a Twins fan I'm probably over valuing Castillo, but you'd think we could at least get a decent triple-a prospect for a solid MLB veteran (good knees or not).

I'm not expecting much tomorrow. I'm sure we'll hear all these rumors about the Twins talking with the Astros (why do we want Ensberg after we trade Castillo though?) and Athletics, but nothing will go down unless we're willing to trade Kevin Slowey. I could see that though, the Twins trade Kevin Slowey to the Athletics for Mike Piazza (who we could've easily of signed in the off-season if our GM didn't waste millions on players like Ponson, Punto, and Ortiz).

We got garbage for Castillo, and that's what the A's are going to get for Piazza.

Funny, that rumor's been around since this time last year when Betemit was still with the Braves...

Wilson Betemit For Scott Proctor Trade Completed

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the Yankees and Dodgers have completed the rumored Scott Proctor for Wilson Betemit trade.
I give a slight edge to Brian Cashman on this trade, given the volatility of relievers. Betemit I think can still be a capable infield regular.

Pineiro accepted to go to AAA since he cleared waivers.

Red Sox are working on Jermaine Dye and Eric Gagne.

For Dye they are offering Willy Mo Pena and most likely Craig Hansen.

I don't know who they are offering for Gagne but they are bidding against the Yankees and Mets. Maybe they are trying to raise the price.

I said we're going to have to overpay. I wouldn't do anything close to that trade, but right now GMs are probably calling TR since he's smoking "the good stuff."

ESPN said Manny Delcarmen (sp?) and Wily Mo Pena to Chi-Sox for Dye. Take that for what its worth.

No more Proctor, nice! Now Farnsworth will be DFA'd, hopefully we'll get Gagne and Chamberlain will be called up.
