Re: High Heat... First Impressions & Questions for those with the game

cookusu and others....thanks for the impressions. I have a question, One of the things that bothered me about the HH series over the past few years has been it's pretty linear fundamental gameplay. It pretty much played baseball accurately but executed gameplay too politically correct. has this year opened up a little more variety to the unexpected and given us a taste of the occassional not-so perfect baseball at times?.....Like throws in the dirt, short hops that get booted or bobbled, over throws to bases or first basemen getting pulled off the bag on a high throw, Throws going wide of their targets, Players booting balls, an infielder charging the ball and not getting a grip on it, outfielders colliding or pulling up to avoid a collision and letting a ball drop in ect, ect?? Just about anything out of the ordinary? Has any of this or other oddities been added to make the gameplay undpredictable and more exciting at times?

    I love that kinda stuff

Also if you set the pitching camera view to "Low" instead of the default "zoomed", pitches get up on hitters much more quickly.

I was hitting Randy Johnson somewhat easily on the zoom level and when I set it to low......I got it handed to me.

I couldn't agree more. In HH2K3 I thought the pitch speed was slow until I switched to the "low" batting cam, instead of the default "low zoomed", and then I never went back. You can't see the pitcher as well, but the pitches coming in at you have a much better look and feel.

Cookie or anyone else that has the game... Have you checked to see if it uses the 2003 schedule? Or does it use the schedule from 2002? Thanks!

Also something that I was curious about was the randomness of errors. Do they still feel like total dice rolls or does it seem that certain situations increase the likelihood of seeing them occur like an outfielder diving for a low line drive or jumping for a ball over his head, an infielder charging a slow roller trying to barehand it and rush his throw, an infielder caught misjudging a shorthop, ect. Do you get the impression that some thought into recreating these situations was added?

I just picked up the PS2 version. I had preordered the xbox version but Gamestop called and said they had the PS2 version so I decided to go get it. I may trade it in for the XBOX version when it comes out. Let me check it out and i'll post some impressions.
