Re: High Heat Sightings and First Impressions here...

I've only played a few games, but I have yet to see the bug, and I played one game where every inning I made sure the CPU had a runner on third with 2 outs, and was able to make the third out a decent fly ball. The bug never happened, so while I'm sure it's there based on all the various posts, it seems from my experience like it's pretty rare.

But the bottom line is that I'm loving this game. I'm a HH fan and really enjoyed 2K3. To me this is the same as 2K3 but with moderately improved graphics and much improved animations. Overall much prettier than 2K3, and the animations, particularly the fielding animations and the batting animations, really seem to add to the feel of the game. The little things like shakes of the head, reactions to situations, much more fluid movements (still some stuttering, but overall much, much better), coupled with the same batter/pitcher interface that I love, just feels like baseball.

And I'm walking a lot of people, particularly with Simontacchi and middle of the road pitchers like that. It's so frustrating and I love it, not being able to throw the ball exactly where I want it.

So overall, I haven't seen any of the bugs, and the game is something that you'll really like if you liked HH2003, and it looks and feels even more realistic, but if you didn't like HH2003, the graphics upgrades aren't going to win you over to the series if the gameplay wasn't your thing below.

But I'll tell you, I haven't had a better moment in a long time playing a sports video game than last night, when I blew a 5 run early lead to go down 6-5 in the 8th, and then JD Drew hit a 2 run, 2 out homerun in the 9th off of Trevor Hoffman to win the game. It just doesn't get any better than that.

One more thing that I forgot, and this may be obvious but I think it's important. Anyone who thinks the pitch speeds are too slow with the default settings (and I agree), before you start changing all the speeds, try changing the batting camera to "low" as opposed to the default of "low zoomed." This makes the pitches come in on the batter very realistically. You still may need to adjust the specific speeds a little to your liking, but it immediately gets rid of the "wiffleball" problem that a lot of people mention.

          HighHeat's new gameplay innovation

It is way easier to locate a fastball this year, or maybe its harder to locate a breaking ball - either way I LOVE IT. When you go down 2-0, you'll definitely be thinking fastball (it's sooo real). The fastballs are way more effective this year too. I've had numerous 3rd Strike fastballs this year. Last year you would never throw the cpu a fastball with 2 strikes unless you had a top drawer fireballer.

I was really struggling with Barry Zito's control because it's not the greatest and I was throwing way too many curveballs, especially slow hooks. The slow hook is very unaccurate, but if I can get 2 strikes and toss a hook close to the plate, it will either freeze the batter and ring him up or get him chasing.
          Awesome.

The only bug I encountered so far was with the sound when you go into the audio menu during a game.

Also the schedules will change if you change settings in the career mode before you start your season, but if you start your season and then make changes the schedules are fine.

Some of things people mentioned seem more like inconsistnecies than bugs, which you could look at as players and umpires making mistakes.

Putting the error meter up 2 notches seems to create errors, one notch it seems a little more realistic again hard to tell without playing loads of games.

Yeah the only issues I ever really notice are the sound ones, but that's my PS2's fault - it's on its last legs or leg or maybe just toe.

Does anyone know what the Pitcher Control Sim slider is supposed to do? I have had it a 0, 5, 7, and 10 and not really noticed a difference. I thought it would make a pitchers control reflect his control attribute more the higher it went, but I'm not sure.

Well, I finally got my hands on HH2004, and I am completely blown away.

HH2004 IMO has the best gameplay in a baseball game all time. Me and my friend played our first game against each other on All Star difficulty. He was the Cubs, I was the Phillies. It was also Prior vs. Myers. It was incredible. Prior continuously froze me with fastballs and his great offspeed stuff, and Myers kept on freezing my friend with breaking balls, and a decent fastball. It was 3-1 Cubs going into the 9th, when I got the bases loaded with Abreu up to bat. I hit a hard grounder right at shortstop, and he turned the easier double play by getting the forces at 2nd and 1st, and allowed 1 run to score. He then proceeded to K my next batter to end the game. We have already had tons of close games, and finally started our fantasy draft franchise. So far, the franchise is INCREDIBLE, and the best console baseball franchise to date IMO.

I'll be back with more impressions later on.

The more I play the less I care about this bug. However, with a 7 month old around and not much time to play, the lack of an in game save is killing me.

I have no clue on whether to buy this game. I am thinking MVP right now, but there are so many things about this game that bother me that I don't know if I wanna spend my money on it. For those who own it, is it really worth getting? I liked the past games but for some reason, I am just not feeling this one. What are the pros and cons of the game?

BTW, about the return policy, I was just trying to clearify it because one of the other posters posted the incorrect policy. I didn't see to many impressions or opinions in your post either.
