How many games of WSB and MVP have you played, and which gives you more realistic numbers?

Well, I just played a full game for the first time in 2 weeks. I actually scored just 4 (lost 8-4) on Legend. The runs came after I stopped swinging early at everything...

        Couple Observations -

Ball seems to disappear "in front" of home plate instead of going through the zone and to a catcher. In fact, if you move the batting cursor all the way in with a right handed batter, the cursor appears in front of the batter, which is weird to me. Shouldn't it appear on the same plane as the middle of the plate?

CPU runners continually failed to take an easy extra base.

Not that I'm too familiar with him, but I doubt Mark Prior's fastball dips to 86 mph by innings 2 and 3. I think he throws low-mid 90s all game?

Looked at Kerry Wood's fastball rating...74? Hmmm, hate to see a REAL major league fastball. Giambi, of course, garners a 100 overall rating.

TInkered around in Franchise starting with Marlins and in 10 minutes had acquired Paul Konerko, Roger Clemons, Jorge Posada and Casey Fossum. I didn't even give up any of the Marlins stud pitchers (Burnett, Beckett, Penny) and had a projected lineup of 2B Castillo, SS - i forget, whoever FLA shortstop is, 3B - Mike Lowell, 1B Paul Konerko, C - Jorge Posada, CF Juan Pierre, then some bum LF and Juan Encarnacion. Not great, but paired with Clemons, Burnett, Beckett, Penney and Fossum, not horrible.

Did appreciate some of the funny comments when trying to make trades "Our whole team is built around Nomar Garciappara, we're not trading him." LOL, pretty cool there.

Anyways, I still enjoy the game but it won't get the bulk of my console attention this spring. Depending on tastes though, this is right on par with MVP for looks, playability, etc., AND has a deeper Franchise mode (get used to navigating Sega's typically heavy-handed front-end menus).

Fair enough. Four runs is pretty good for Legend.

Have you tried the "Power Pro" hitting? I'd be interested in hearing what you think of it.

I'm guessing you had to part with I-Rod, Lee, and some decent pitching (Spooneybarger?) to get what you did, which didn't sound particularly good (aging, expensive players)

Pitch ratings include a control factor, which is probably what's bringing down Wood's fastball to a 74 (still one of the best). Comparing a rating for one pitch to an overall rating is apples with oranges. Wood's got an overall rating of close to 90, I believe (overall ratings are all pushed up toward the 50+ side, while ratings for attributes use the full 1-100 scale).

There's a feature that never seems to have made it into the manual that allows you to put more juice on a pitch; the stamina system is set up expecting it to be used fairly often. If you still aren't getting the mph you want, you can edit the speed ratings for each of a pitcher's pitches.

I agree that the baserunning is conservative, but not to the degree that it "continually fails to take an easy extra base." The alternative is probably worse--being able to throw the CPU runners out with regularity (which seems to be an issue in several other games this year).

In OPM they said that mvp is too timing based. Does this mean that the ability to hit the ball where you want does not play a very large roll in this game.

You said that mvp does have low scoring games.......does the cpu score a lot though? What is your record and what difficulty were you playing on?

                        They'll never learn.
