Also, Mattingly has left the staff per the article.

Pretty cheap price. I wonder if there's incentives in the deal that no one knows about at this point.

Great choice. I would rather have him over Mattingly. I wonder if Mattingly stays on as bench coach, although I doubt it.

Now it's time to focus on resigning Rivera and Posada. Hopefully Pettitte decides to return and they exercise Abreu's option as well.

Mattingly will not accept a position on the Yankees coaching staff, Marchand and ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney are reporting.

You want them to pick up the $16m/per on Abreu? I dunno about that, he's not worth anywhere near that.

                    Mazzone?

Oh man, with some of the young pitchers the Yanks got he'd do wonders with 'em. I don't think Mazzone would want to go to that pressure cooker of a situation tho and really, I can't see him in pinstripes.

Good Job by the Yankees on this-1. Girardi was the wise choice. Now the Yankees need to offer the Pitching Coach Job to Dave Eiland, so he can continue working with Joba, Hughes, Kennedy & the other young pitchers we have. Congrats Joe

Nice..even though i love the hitman, im glad with the Yanks decision. I think Girardi has more managerial experience.

I think i heard last week that Pena said if he doesnt get the managerial position that he still wants to be a coach on the Yankees in some sort.
