I am defending a U.S.. Citizen's rights...and I am not a sheep that believes everything that is spoon fed to him by the media...or else I'd think Hillary Clinton is a great Presidential candidate
The man never said..."I never took steroids" under oath has he?
This is Bonds being indicted for lying to a grand jury and obstructing of justice.
You saying he was a cheater is irrelevant and personally unsubstantial garbage that has no merit, unless you have a picture of Bonds with a needle in his butt or a sign that says "steroids=HR"
and another thing...steroids does NOT make you a better ball player...look at the ones who are busted for it.
Steroids help PITCHERS recover so they can pitch more or last a season and older position players recover from the daily grind.
You want to say he hit a ball further? How many HRs from Bonds just cleared the wall in his career? I say 10 tops...he hits no doubters...always has. Plus smaller ballparks, shrinking strikezone (that has been widened recently) and MLB ITSELF making the ball tighter= more HRs then ANY drug that was or will ever be created
right and wrong...he has admitted but steroids were not illegal in baseballLast edited by imapotato; 11-17-2007, 05:44 PM.Comment

Re: Bonds Indicted!
1) Bonds never lied about taking Steroids...he admitted he might have, he said he never "knowingly" took steroids. Bonds is not a chemist...if I were in the same boat 15 years ago and thought Steroids was injection and not something you could rub on...I could see where he wouldn't know.
Let's face it, that argument doesn't wash because we've seen many Olympic athletes use the same argument but still get stripped of their medals.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

HOW do YOU know that steroids do not help a batter make it to the majors?
HOW do YOU know that steroids do not help a pitcher get a few more mph on their pitches?
Have YOU seen the pictures from when Bonds started with the Pirates as a twig, and now, when he can barely jog this year in the Outfield?
Have you seen the information about Victor Conte and his assailants.

2. That remains to be seen. If they do indeed prosecute w/out his testimony however, then that would be the proof they intentionally misled the court.Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Bonds Indicted!
hmmmm...how to put this:
Person A kills someone.
Person A claims he was with Person B.
Person B knows Person A wasn't with him, in fact, he knows that Person A killed someone
Person B's testimony is essential to conviction.
Person B refuses to testify to this in court. Person B is then held in contempt and put in jail.
Over the course of a year the prosecution finds out about Person C. Person C happened to be with/see Person B the night of the killing.
Person C can testify that person A was NOT with Person B.
Person B's testimony is no longer essential. You do what you want in your association, don't let others ruin the fun. Just because other people say it's cheap doesn't mean you have to let it affect your association, just have fun - Evan_OSComment

Answer to 1: In court. Haven't you been reading? Of course the judge found him in contempt. When was anything else implied? It was the prosecution who claimed Anderson was holding up the investigation.

Re: Bonds Indicted!
If I'm Barry Bonds or ANY professional athlete where my body is my families meal ticket, I will know everything about every supplement, cream, pill etc... that I put into my body. It's dumb not to and dumb for Barry to take anything from a known steroid abuser.Comment

Re: Bonds Indicted!
Bingo. Sure, a lot of fringe MLB players have been busted for steroids, but maybe if those fringe MLB players did not take steroids they wouldn't make it to MLB....they'd be career AAA players. The salary and perks of being an MLB player are so great (even for a guy making the minimum salary) that taking 'roids to help said player reach the MLB level is a no brainer to some.Comment

Good one for you, your parents must be proud. Now go educate yourself on steroids, and let the grownups have the floor.
That is my 1st and last post to youComment

I don't know man...
Because when I was in the minors, there were 20 things that some people would do to 'enhance' performance...most of them were old wives tales.
Steroids will make you a better football player, a better weigh lifter, a better Olympic track star. It won't make your brain tell your hands to begin the swing faster. It won't make your peripheral vision better in the field.
The only great benefit it has is in baseball is that pitchers can recover quicker (great for RP)...and that has the side effect of more injuries, because it's an unnatural process. (look at the rise in pitchers on the DL) and most of the guys busted have been RP.Comment

Re: Bonds Indicted!
Ankiel and others have stated that there illegal drugs were prescribed by Dr.'s. Morally think what you want, but legally they are covered. Then it could be pretty much harmless on the athletes part, David Bell was thrown into the steroid talk and believe me, what he was taking had NOTHING to do with baseball
So let's for argument sake say 2002 MLB said matter of fact--- any anabolic steroid is banned and if you get caught you are screwed.
I still state MLB is the bad guy here...they 'fixed' the game to cause more HRs after the strike. They shrunk the strikezone, they made the ball tighter so it would travel further (a claim CONFIRMED by physicists) and other changes.
They created the monster and now the players take ALL the heat because they had to adjust and make themselves HR hitters in order to make or stay in the Show.
Let's try it this way...if you lost your retirement because your financial advisor did something that he told you was 'ok' but actually was a risky stock (like a Chinese toy making company) should we laugh at you, throw rotten fruit at you because you should have known better?
C'mon you are a pencil pusher working for retirement...you should HAVE KNOWN where your money was going...and not accepted an EXPERT'S opinion.
And you shall be know as Stretch Armstrong because you are stretching that last sentence. You cannot tell me with a straight lying face you knew who Balco was before 1998.Last edited by imapotato; 11-18-2007, 12:54 PM.Comment
