Ooh, that's a tough call, although I think Larry has had a pretty solid career I think his chances of Cooperstown are pretty slim at this point IMO...

He was a good player for a few years but his numbers just don't scream HOF to me. He's not even borderline to be honest.

Not now. Maybe if he can put four or five more seasons together like last year.

I know I'm a Braves fan but he's not even borderline? Really? There aren't many third basemen in the HOF and his stats are right up there with the best of them.

Here are the top 10 third baseman OPS+ through age 35:

          151 Mike Schmidt
          143 Chipper Jones
          143 Eddie Mathews
          142 George Brett
          139 Wade Boggs
          137 Frank Baker
          128 Bobby Bonilla
          126 Bob Elliott
          124 Bill Madlock
          124 Ron Cey

Keep in mind.. He's a switch hitter

            I think he'll end up with 2500+ hits, 450-500 HR, 1500+ RBI's

That says HOF to me..MVP and 8 times voted top 11 for MVP

Now, no. If he ends with those numbers, yes.

The numbers he has now just aren't impressive enough to get into the HOF in the era he played in.

All true. He'll get in. He's my second favorite active player though, so I might be a little biased

Really? I can't agree or dispute that one, but the only reason I was really considering him as one is because he was/is a switch hitting third baseman, I really like him, but when I think of HOF his name just does'nt seem like a shoe-in to me...

Now if he ends up with those numbers then yes he's a HOF'er.

BTW to call Chipper one of the best of ALL TIME.....is just a little over the top.

Yes.. I do see Larry getting in the HoF.. he did bounce from LF to 3b too..
I would guess and say 2 more solid seasons, he's a lock..

Plus I think people in the steroid era.. that haven't been linked to steriods such as Chipper, Griffey will get a little more votes come election time.

To my knowledge, neither have been linked.

                            If he retired today... No.

If he has a couple more real good seasons.... Yes.

Here's a recent article about how Chipper has stayed clear of the steroid rumors:
