Your 1st clue, as to why the reviewer only played the 85% beta version, is this. No mention of the BTP or dead center cam angles amongst the other things released. Also if you can recall, on the ign forum boards, this is where the 1st embargo rumor came from. So I'm confident in my beleif that he did not review the final version.

Re: MVP 2003 Review IGN Xbox
You can tell we're hurting to play MVP when everyone is dissecting a game review from IGN. I usually take their reviews with a grain of salt when it comes to sports games.
I need some reviews from this site.Comment

I think the IGN reviewer will be proven correct in his assertion that MVP is good with a few rough spots. He said it was a close second overall to WSB2K3 and that sounds about right to me. Why all the panic?Comment

Re: MVP 2003 Review IGN Xbox
What IGN described cannot be deemed as a few rough spots. We all were expecting a few rough spots, but not the calamity that IGN believes the fielding is."If y’all see me in the news, and I make the news for something that I ain’t got no business making it for, don’t bash me. Say it was a young guy living."

Re: MVP 2003 Review IGN Xbox
I have a sneaky suspicion that the review is based on a beta copy, and that the score is inflated to reflect that fact (as an ***-covering move)
Plus, it's no secret that IGN are two steps shy of being WSB fanboys.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment
