Re: I think I got it. New and improved sliders!!!
I was looking at other people's slider settings, and I like what I see except now I'm wondering about the CPU BATTTING Avg. Most people here seems to have it set to 20. results showed that USER was getting too many Ks against the CPU. The solution was brought up to raise the CPU Batting EYE(Strikes) higher. So I went home and did this leaving my CPU BA around 20. WHat I've been getting was that whenever I threw a pitch down the middle, they would swing at it more, but it would be wildy off from where the ball actually crosses the plate. I know most would say that I shouldn't play the game by throwing K's all the time, but the fact that pitching is too easy and not a challenge almost forces me to raise up the CPU BA slider to 35. At 40 they were hitting everything. At 30 I was getting 8 K's in 6 innings with Millwood. I knew that I definately can't go lower than 30 now. So I put it to 35, and Millwood had 6 K's in 6 innings. against the Marlins. If anything I'm going to raise it but not above 40 because at 40 the Yankees were hitting everything off of the D-Rays. Granted, the D-Rays have horrible pitching, but there is no way that Yankees go that wild on them. I think they scored every inning, and I didn't even finish because it was so boring. They wouldn't have scored almost 30 runs.
In the end, I'm not in anyway saying that this will work for everyone. But it seems good to me, and personally, I think it makes sense. My CPU BE(S) setting is at 60. Here they look at strikes every once in a while and swing as well pretty often which makes me avoid good hitters since the BA is up.
Basically, if you feel that you're pitching agains the cpu is too easy, then raising the CPU BA and CPU BE(S) is the key. I like the CPU BE(B) at 90. It's been good there so far.

cpu beb at 90 has been awesome for me. BA at 60 is also good.

GREAT! Do you have CPU BA at 35 also? If so how is it in terms of getting Ks, balls/strikes ratio, CPU hits, and runs.
Thanks
With these settings, I'm going to play RedSox versus D-RAys. I'm going to be P.Martinez and testing to see if get over 10K's, less than 8 hits, and less than 3 runs. If I do then these settings are set for me. If the D-Rays go crazy and hit all over me then I'm going to lower the CPU BA to 33 or if I acccumulate say 25 Ks then I'm going to raise the CPU BA to 37 and test these again. I'm planning to do all of this with Millwood(85) as well and hope to get lower number, but still great numbers since it's the D-Rays.
I'm not going to get scared if Pedro throws only 5 Ks either, but if I see that he had great control with the slider settings I had then I'll be sold on these settings. BTW, Pedro and Millwood will be pitching with HVP.
I won't even care about my hitting, I'm happy with where that's at, but my pitching needs to be tweaked.Comment

Re: I think I got it. New and improved sliders!!!
Here's a problem I'm having - I use the following settings:
CPU Batting AVG - 15
CPU Batting Eye (Balls) - 70
CPU Batting Eye (Strikes) - 90
The problem is, when using for example, Randy Johndson against the Orioles, I'm still giving up too many hits. I'm getting plenty of strikeouts. I constantly work the corners, never aiming at the middle or in the Hot zones. I give up walks instead of giving in. The problem is, my pitch counts get fairly high and he's tired by the 6th inning and exhausted by the 7th inning. If I try to keep the pitch count down and pitch more inside the strike zone but still on the corners (basically trying to get them to put the ball in play), they get hit after hit. It seems to me that too high of a percentage of balls put in play result in base hits. I'd day If Randy records 12 Ks in 8 innings, there would be 12 outs recorded by fielding plays. At this point, I've given up 12 hits which would mean that 50% of batted balls result in hits. That is way too high. I'm getting plenty of pitches and issue 1-2 walks per game, but it's basically either strike out or base hit. I even tried turning the strike zone and pitching cursor on to make sure I hit the corners. How do you guys allow only 6 hits with only 7 Ks? Are you more agressive in the hot zones? Bottom line for me is this - high K's and pitch counts resulting in tired pitcher in the 6th or get pummeled with singles. Mind you, this is with CPU Batting Average at 15. I almost feel guilty lowering it more. The switch from infielder to outfielder that results in the outfileder breaking the wrong way causes tons of cheap doubles. Any ideas? What are some of your pitching strategies? I'd just love to have a guy like Maddux have them hit the ball and not get killed.
Thanks,

That's an interesting problem you're having. Although this may not make sense to you right away, I would lower the CPU BE(S) to 60. It seems that they swing at strikes way too much. Now, this might result in more K's by Johnson, but you are playing the Orioles. In addition, I would try to raise the CPU BE(B) to 90 because that would help CPU get more walks and hopefully less Ks since they won't be swinging at too many balls.
CPU BA at 15 seems too low, but if you're content there then what can I say. Try those other settings out first because they might alleviate the problem, and please tell us how they worked out.Comment
