Re: I think I got it. New and improved sliders!!!
Double post, oops. But I don't see how this can be confirmed. I definately think that playing on Legend is different as compared to All-Star even using custom sliders. For example, I have been using the same sliders on All-Star and simply bumped the AI level to Legend. I played with the custom sliders I had been used to but with the skill level on Legend I lost for the first time in a while.
If anything I think it's confirmed that the sliders do make a difference in conjunction with the AI setting. If it didn't why would EA allow you to select the skill level with one option and hte sliders with another?Comment

The difference between the difficulty levels when using Custom sliders is in the other options - pitch speed, cursor size, etc. That's all.Comment

Re: I think I got it. New and improved sliders!!!
Even though I'm pretty new to this game, I think I've found some nice sliders as of now. You have to disregard my hitting settings, because I'm just getting used to cursor batting, etc...However, this is what I've done to get some realistic pitching:
There was definitely a problem at hand. When I had the computer batting at 25, with no cursor and med or high var. pitching, I was getting some realistic CPU hits but WAY too many strikeouts. We're talking between 12-14 a game.
My next thought was to raise CPU batting to about 65. Now my new problem, was that they were getting too many hits.
My solution: Leave CPU batting at around 65 (This from my brief experience is the only way to keep strikeouts down). But, I put the cursor back on and set the pitching var. to medium. Doing this, helps me keep the hits down to a realistic level.
Let me know what you guys think.Comment
