True, but Howard's average is .244, while pujols is .360. Delgado, on the other hand, had a first half average of .216 and has been good for the mets in the 2nd half, but his first half mega-slump probably will effect the voters in the end. I still think pujols or berkman cause berkman has near stats, but .328 avg.

Because the award is voted upon by sportswriters, the majority of whom are hacks. They love a good story and lack common sense.
