But, I like Burnett. I like Sabathia. I'm happy if the Yankees can have both of them.

    The money is dumb.

Actually, Braves fans should rejoice if the Yankees can sign him. Burnett would be a good fit in Turner Field (especially since he can give up the homerun ball), but the Braves aren't as financially stupid as the Yankees, and it would make more sense for them to bring guys like Peavy and Sheets.
    Fixed it for ya.

Apparently Burnett's agent wants even MORE money. They're looking for a Carlos Zambrano type deal. A GM would have to be out of his freakin' mind to give Burnett that kind of dough.

              CC > Mussina

Plus the Yankees were without Wang for over half of the year and only had 12 starts out of Joba.

CC is definitely better than Mussina. Signing him isn't just a flip.

But, the Yankees do need more pitching.

                  Re: AJ Burnett

Mussina won 20. No matter how good CC is, the likelihood of him winning more than that is low.

So, CC is, at best, replacing the 20 wins that Mussina garnered them.

That's if you truly believe that Mussina could have won 20 games next year.

Not to mention believing that "wins" for a pitcher mean diddly-poo.

I was going to say this but while I agree that wins are overrated, it's hard (probably impossible) to find a bad pitcher that wins 20 games. Mussina had a very good season.

Hard yes, but it's very, very easy to find pitchers with less than 20 wins who are markedly better than many do win 20.

                              CC is a better pitcher.

If he gets the same run support/luck, he will win more games over the course of the year. More importantly, he gives you a better chance to win future games.

You guys are using Mike and the Mad Dog logic, and that's not a good thing.
