alou announced couple of days ago that alfonzo and cruz would swap their spots in the batting order. i think this is a smart move as alfonzo doesn't strike out as much as cruz and it'll give cruz chances to drive in more runs and steal bases after barry cleans them up.

Re: Giants!!!
Yeah, I like the way he doesn't hesitate to take action. Worrell has 2 outs in the ninth, and he brings in Eyre to get the last out. Jensen has a bad outing and all of a sudden he gets an "injury" so they can bring up Foppert. I think Dusty is a great manager, but Alou just breathes new life into this team.Comment

Exactly! I have been a Giants fan all my life and I think Dusty showed favoritism way to much.Like when he put Shawon Dunsten in all the time or kept a pitcher in for that LAST OUT, but he never got it. I still hope Dusty has a good stay in Chicago though. GIANTS ALL THE WAY!!Comment

Re: Giants!!!
Yeah, his love of Shawon Dunston was driving me CRAAAAAAZY!!!!
I used to get frustrated too when Nen didn't have anything on some night, and there wouldn't even be anyone warming up in the bullpen. Again, I think he's a great manager, but he just didn't know when to pull the trigger sometimes.Comment

Re: Giants!!!
what a great weekend! giants swept the dodgers and now hold a 11-1 record. i actually had a dream two nights ago that marvin benard was in an expos uniform - the old retro light blue ones. so when i saw the highlights from last nights' game, for a split second i thought "benard is back with the giants?"
as for bernard, he's going to have to get used to coming off the bench. i wish we had something better to choose from than grissom, bernard, and rivera.Believe + Receive = Become

Re: Giants!!!
Yeah, I was at the game last night, and I thought it was gonna turn into one of those like Wednesday's game against the Pad's. Both pitchers settled down, and it turned into a great game. What a finish!!! And I can't believe it was Marvin that capped it off with defense and timely hitting, both with whiich he's been struggling with the last couple years.
I've always hated Dodger fans, but I forgot how much until I had to deal with them last night. They were talking crap the whole game, standing up and antagonizing everyone behind them. They were soooo quiet after the game was over. There were a couple people with brooms giving them a sweep as they were walking out. People were chanting MAAARVINN on the way out of the stadium. It was the most excited I've seen the fans leaving PacBell since they clinched the division title against Arizona in 2000.
Between innings, they announced that Jeff Kent and the Astros were coming in, and a lot of people booed. Everyone's fired up for the series coming up and the rest of the season. I'm going to tonight's game too. Should be a blast.
GO GIANTS!!!! 11-1!!!!Comment

Re: Giants!!!
Not being on the west coast and not getting Giants games I have 2 questions to ask and I hope I get the answers.
1) Who's the pitching coach?
2) how is Alou handling the pitching staff? in Montreal he was known for being VERY good with the pitchers and making sure they don't get arm injuries from being overworked.
thanks in advance.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Giants!!!
from espn:
"...it sports the return of Jeff Kent to San Francisco, a place where he most definitely did not leave his heart, but certainly deposited a good deal of bile. Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News quotes him as saying of his decision to leave the Giants for the Astros, 'If I thought the Giants were in that same class. I'd probably still be there.' How is that for WWF-style pre-event hyperbole?"
doesn't kent know never to burn bridges?? it's a good thing the news guys are making it easier to handle the loss of kent's bat.
dave righetti is the giants' pitching coach. i can say alou has been more liberal with pitching changes than dusty. other than that, i haven't been able to watch many games up here in oregon. hopefully, i'll get to make it to a game at pacbell sometime this season.
