    Welcome back Griffey!

We saved the #24 jersey number for ya. Since he left, no one even dared to wear that number for 9 years!

I'm watching it now and who is pitching for the M's? BOBBY AYALA

      I'm gonna have nightmares tonight.

Is it wrong for me to hope he sucks next year? Because that's pretty much where I'm at right now.

That may be a bit optimistic. Realistically, 25 HRs and 100 RBIs is probably the best we can hope for at this point in his career and even that's probably stretching it.

I'm not sure how many ABs he's going to get against lefties anyway. His splits against lefties the past few years have been awful and he really should be platooned. I hope Wakamatsu isn't pressured to put him in the lineup everyday or play him a lot in LF. I'm pretty sure Z won't be doing that but Armstrong and Lincoln are another story.

I can't believe he went to Seattle!?!? Atlanta's GM should now be officially fired - first Furcal and now Griffey? I'm starting to believe it's not the agents' faults now...

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

It's not Wren's fault. He did everything he could. The Braves couldn't have been a more attractive option for him.

I know it was back in the 90's, but people shouldn't forget what Griffey really means to Seattle. He's the biggest star in the history of the city, bigger than Payton, Kemp, Steve Largent, Shaun Alexander, etc. And without Griffey's 11 years, there would be no Safeco Field, and probably no Seattle Mariners. They would have moved to Tampa, most likely. And when the Reds came back here in June of '07, the love-fest was almost too much to take. But it really touched Griffey. He said time and again that Seattle was "home" to him. His wife Melissa is from here, two of his three kids were born here, and he had a fantastic run here. He was our own Michael Jordan, so to speak. And he said back in June of '07 that he wanted to retire a Mariner.

But the kicker here is Willie frickin' Mays calling him yesterday to tell him how important it was for his legacy to return to Seattle! It's one thing to have Chipper Jones calling him daily, trying to lobby him to ATL. But when the "original" #24 calls you and tells you what you should do, you at least listen, don't you?

Seattle is sideways today. For once, a legend has decided to come TO Seattle, not leave. Let us enjoy it!

As a M's fan in NY, Im happy. Griffey is going to have a farewell tour as he deserves.

Im going to get tickets to see M's at Yankee Stadium.

I just got back from a dentist's appointment and everyone in the place - dentist, receptionists, assistants, patients - were talking about Griffey returning to Seattle. If that's any indication then the whole city is buzzing about it.

Last year's train wreck of a season was soul crushing to M's fans and there hasn't been much enthusiasm about the upcoming season even though savvy M's fans are happy about the new direction the team is taking under Jack Zduriencik. It's safe to say that's all changed now.

Thanks for the FYI on the dentist thing Anyways, since RF is taken by Ichiro where's Griffey gonna be placed? I wouldn't believe they'd stick him in CF because of his limited range

DH. In an ideal world he never steps on the field, as a fielder.

I'm going to be happy to see him on the team again, memories. I will be at a few more games than I would have been.
