In my mind almost half the league juiced and none of them put up numbers close toBonds. I hate A-Rod because he time after time claimed he wasn't using anything and was the poster boy for "clean home run king"

Well, I'm okay with this ... if you can prove someone lied to make themselves look good, do it. And I'm not a huge Selena Roberts fan , but in terms of anything reported in her capacity for SI , you'd think they'd get reliable sources...(the book would be different)

In high school? Pretty much every NBA player lies about their height going from HS to college and then from college to the NBA. Is that different? Personally I could care less what any athlete did in high school, true or not. Travis Best scored 100 points in high school... most who aren't GT or Pacers fans don't even know who he is. I certainly don't care what kind of bat ARod used in high school... or how much he tips waitresses either.

If he's due up 4th in the inning pitchers hope for nothing more than retiring the side 1-2-3. He's worth playing in this league, and the herd that follows means more fan attendance. I don't see who loses in this, except the other team when Bonds plays them.

He's worthwhile in this discussion because of the reasons I've stated in this thread and because most people don't seem to want to talk about Rodriguez anyway.

EDIT: Wow, never realized RM84 also used "blackballed." I can't even remember when I heard the term, but I've only heard it once in my life and wanted to use it here. Guess Bonds fans think alike!
I don't blame teams for caring about their locker room and not wanting to completely screw up team chemistry (and bring all the bad press Bonds brings) by signing Barry.

I am kinda surprised he hasn't found some desperate team to sign him, but if I was a GM I wouldn't want to risk my job signing him. Public opinion is important for MLB teams, and there's a lot of Bonds hate going on.

Until you can prove otherwise, half the league was not using steroids. Not that I disagree with you, just saying you can't throw that out there without any fact.

Also, I can't stand A-Rod but you can't hate the guy because the media made him "the clean home run king." That's the media's fault, not A-Rods.

I think a better way of putting it is that many players were using steroids without any punishment from MLB, criticism from the commissioner or outcry from the public. In Baltimore, it was more funny that Brady Anderson was hitting 50 homeruns and all of a sudden was looking like He-man. Everyone assumed Canseco was juicing but all we talked about was the coming of a 40/40 player and later his many defensive blunders. Big Mac didn't get any criticism until it was found that what he was taking killed a high school or college kid, and that WASN'T steroids. He quickly pointed out that it was completely legal and he had stopped taking it at that point.

Bottom line is, all of this punishing (verbally, public outcry, etc) for stuff that was done at a time when it was accepted is ridiculous. Show me that ARod juiced up since the rules changed and then I'll say he should be punished. Meanwhile all the people that used to drive without a seat belt, drink and drive (literally at the same time, not just drive after having a few in a bar), ride with a child not in a car seat, smoke while pregnant, etc. should be fined and punished for all that behavior when it wasn't against the law too.

              Completely agree.
