1) Trade Giambi. No, not cuz of his current slump. But rather, Nick Johnson's 2003 early campaign. If he hasn't arrived, then he's fooling *us*. Has essentially a .500 obp. No typeo. Problem is, he's a better first baseman (by all the experts at least) and he feels more comfortable playing in the field versus DH'ing. Well, Giambi also prefers to play in the field, thus the trade proposal. Keep the younger/cheaper/farmbread player, and trade the other.
2) Sign Vlad (preferably in the off-season). Like Soriano in many respects, a player with his skills comes along few occasions in a lifetime. He is *the* caliber of player you build (or maintain) your organization around. Not to mention, he has a gun in RF, which will replace Cannon Modesi following his 2003 tenure.
3) Keep keen eyes/ears open for a legitimate CF. Bernie is my fave player on the team, would have to say. His shoulders are holding up well this season (knock on wood), and he's off to a niice start. However, the Yanks would benefit mightily by a AJones/CBeltran/MCameron level of CF (db of course AJones has no peer). Given Bernie's age, hx of shoulder ailments, and switch-hitting ability, moving into the Yanks full-time DH slot would be a natural, i would think.
