Re: You got WHO for HIM??
Orioles acquire OF Adam Jones, RP George Sherrill, SP Chris Tillman, RP Kam Mickolio, SP Tony Butler from Mariners for SP Erik Bedard
Bedard has been good but oft-injured. Jones is now an AS as is Flat Breezy, Tillman is one of the best pitching prospects in the game, and Mickolio looks like he'll be a dependable bullpen arm. Butler got hurt last season, but still a woodshed beating put on by MacPhail.
Orioles acquire OF Frank Robinson from Reds for SP Milt Pappas, RP Jack Baldschun, OF Dick Simpson
Robinson continued his HOF career and won the AL Triple Crown in his first year, leading the O's to a championship. Nothing ever came of any of the guys the Reds got in returnComment

Re: You got WHO for HIM??
Most of Milwaukee's deals in the last few years have been good (Richie Sexson trade especially). The only really bad ones, IMO, would be throwing in Nelson Cruz when they traded Carlos Lee (though there really wasn't a spot for Cruz at the time and he wasn't in Milwaukee's plans), and acquiring Johnny Estrada two years ago.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

Re: You got WHO for HIM??
Heh, what in the world are you complaining about with that deal? I can't knock the deal since Alexander did help the Tigers win the pennant that year during that stretch run in September. But you guys got the sure fire Hall of Fame pitcher who helped get the Braves deep into the playoffs year after year.
Anyway, as a Tigers fan only one recent trade sticks out to me like a sore thumb:
Edgar Renteria for Jair Jurrjens - As for Renteria, he has been playing well recently... for the Giants. He didn't do a ******* thing for the Tigers. Meanwhile, Jurrjens has turned out to be one of the best starting pitchers for the Braves ever since he's been on that team. My blood still boils from that deal.

Re: You got WHO for HIM??
For the A's:
Aaron Harang: Most people don't remember when Harang was bouncing in between AAA and being the A's fifth starter. He was eventually traded along with another minor leaguer for Randy Velarde in 2000. Yes, a win now trade for the A's, but if they had kept him for a few more years, we see what may have happend.
30-Jul-03: Oakland Athletics traded Aaron Harang, Jeff Bruksch and Joe Valentine to the Cincinnati Reds for Jose Guillen.
Thanks!
Harang was a complete horse for us 2005-2007. Over 200 innings each year, tons of strikeouts, and an ERA in the 3's. Never got consideration for NL Cy Young in 06 and 07 because Webb was killin' it and Harang only had 16 wins in each year but was in the top 10 in every other pitching category. The man is a beast. I was disappointed that he fell off last year but he seems to have gotten it back a bit... but as usual, his run support is absolutely terrible. I'd have to say he's probably one of the top most underrated players in baseball.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Also, how has Andrus not proven anything yet? He's got more range than any shortstop in the majors and has good patience at the plate for his age.Comment

Re: You got WHO for HIM??
The entire Bavasi era with the Mariners is filled with these...
Traded away Rafael Soriano for Horacio Ramirez (ATL).
Traded away Carlos Guillen for Ramon Santiago and the other Juan Gonzalez (DET).
Traded away Randy Winn for Jesse Foppert (SF).
As already mentioned Cabrera for Eduardo Perez. Shin-Soo Choo for Broussard (CLE). Bedard for everyone but Ichiro and Felix (BAL).
I'm loving Zduriencik's trade with NYM/Cle for Franklin Gutierrez, Endy Chavez, Mike Carp, etc. for Putz, Green, Reed, and Valbuena.
Some historical ones from the M's.
Acquiring Heathcliff Slocumb for Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe (BOS).
Acquired Randy Johnson, Brian Holman (was good before injury), and Gene Harris for Mark Langston (MON).
Acquired Jay Buhner for Ken Phelp's bat (NYY).
Acquired Sterling Hitchcock and Russ Davis for Jeff Nelson and Tino Martinez (NYY). Doh!Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment
