And I don't care if he's 39, Jeff Reboulet should be the starting 2B until further notice. He makes the most out of every play he's in, and players can learn a lot from watching him.

You're right about Vuckovich; I almost forgot about him. Either way, they can't seem to develop consistent pitching. Not since the days when Ray Miller was pitching coach. Of course, it helps when your staff ace is Doug Drabek.

Where is Brant Brown anyways? Yeah, a classic Cam move.

On a better note, the Bucs looked good tonight. A sweep over the Expos is what we needed. And, who's the hero at the end? Jason Kendall! We ought to criticize him more often!

Two strikes, lays down a bunt in the perfect spot. Players just don't do that anymore. And then he makes it to first safely to boot.

Not quite as good as his squeeze bunt a few weeks ago though. Most amazing bunt I've ever seen!

I think that was the one (Reboulet's bunt)...

A few random thoughts before I hit the sack...

Jeff Reboulet symbolizies what is good about baseball. He also reminds us what's wrong with the game today. Too many overpaid athletes working for the big bucks, but losing sight of how to actually play the game to win. It's all about stats nowadays because stats get the money. There's no glory in a sacfrice bunt or hitting to the right side. I'm surprised Reboulet never seemed to get a real shot anywhere (I know he was with the Orioles for quite a while).

Hope Kenny Lofton keeps hitting so we can get more for him in a trade.

Speaking earlier about the Post-Gazette, the king of gloom and doom (Bob Smizik) brought up a point about Jason Kendall moving to second base so Craig Wilson could become the everyday catcher, at least until maybe Cota is ready. I'm wondering if this will ever happen. It's been discussed before. Now, with Pokey Reese gone (for good after the season) and the fact no one will take on Kendall's contract, this may have some merit. At least until Jose Castillo is ready.

I live in Altoona, PA, so I get to see many of the Curve's games. The Bucs have got some really good prospects at AA, especially with pitchers Sean Burnett and John Van Benschoten. They also have an outfielder named Shawn Garrett, who came to the Bucs from the Padres for, I believe, Dan Miceli. I really like Garrett. He reminds me of a Mark Kotsay-type player. Hope he eventually gets a shot.

Speaking of Kotsay, always thought he'd look good in black and gold. Also like Trot Nixon from the Bosox.

This thread is really going places! If Padre fans can have their own thread, why can't we?
