I stopped playing baseball when I was 10, and I haven't tried to play since for one reason.

I was playing outfield (LF)...someebody popped it up over there, and I couldn't see, because the sun was in my eyes. I just looked at the Catcher, and I shrugged, saying I just can see, we'll wait till it hits tha carpet.

That ball hit me right on the top of the head, and to this day, I have a dent in my head....a VERY deep dent...

I'd play for my school next year, and I really want to play, because I'm not bad, but its a psycological thing. That really hurt, and I'm just scared about getting hurt now.

Uhmm .. Thats when you use your glove/off hand to shield the sun and find the ball.

And, if you were any good at baseball, you wouldn't let a small thing like that stop you from playing.

IMO, that is the dumbest reason not to play sports.

This year the starting 2nd baseman was up to bat and he swung and his body shifted around but his knee didn't. He dislocated his knee and was out for a while. But that's how I got my varsity spot.

            Re: playing baseball

i only played sports till 8th grade.. didnt play in high school.. but i had 2 large collisions..

1:.. 3base coach told me to hold at second.. i didnt listen and kept going to third.. the 3basemen got the ball way before me.. i was a catcher.. i was a horrible slider.. so instead.. i just ran right thru him.. knocked him on his *** and he dropped the ball and i was safe ... coach was VERY angry at me. i almost got called out just cuz they werent happy with the physical play

            2. basically the same thing.. except it was at the plate.. and i ran over the catcher.. this time he didnt drop the ball.. and i got thrown out of the game for playing physical.. i was only in 5th grade in both of those times.. the next year they made me learn how to slide.. no more running over players..

both those time.. parents, coaches.. they were really dissapointed in me.... that always bothered me.

                  Didn't happen to me...

Our first baseman had to reach for a ball over and down the baseline into an oncoming runner. The runner didn't stop and neither did our 1st baseman. Runner runs right into him and dislocates his shoulder and is done for the season. It was his senior year too. That sucks.

Another one of my teammates dislocated his shoulder diving back to first on routine pick-off attempt. Last time he ever played baseball again...he plays golf now!!!!

I've had PLENTY of injuries during baseball, most just bad luck.

This year I actually caught a fastball right in the face from one of our rivals. We won in extras, but I was out with a concussion for a while. Sucked.

I have also had many collisions, the worst being one that knocked me out for a minute or two. I was in center just diving for a blooper. I called for it before hand, knowing I could get to hit. Well, our shortstop gets greedy, and right as I dive, he falls backwards trying to catch it, and my head went straight into his knee. It sucked, but I was back the next game.
