Re: ALDS: Twins vs Yankees
What a fail by the umps in this game. We all know about the blown call, and we can all speculate as to what would have happened if that was correctly called a double. For me, I will put my money on a run with Kubel and Cuddyer coming up there. But both sides should be angry at the horrible game called by the home plate umpire. He wasn't even close to consistent with his calls and both sides got completely jobbed by his moveable strike zone. Man I hate it when the home plate umpire forces his will upon the game. The second worst call of the game was his decision to decide that Kubel swung at a 2-0 pitch instead of allowing for an appeal. He wasn't even close. A 3-0 count there is huge, and he took it away. Man I hate that kind of ****.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 10-10-2009, 04:01 AM.Comment

And let's all agree that the ****ing Yankees do NOT need to get calls. They already have everything else in their favor. Don't give them that. Man I hate the ****ing Yankees. And I know Yankees fans love to hear that. But ****, do I ****ing hate the Yankees.Comment

Re: ALDS: Twins vs Yankees
I watched last nights game all the way up to about the 11th and then I had to go to bed. I knew the home plate ump was calling pitches that were off the plate all night long, and then I woke up this morning and saw that really bad call on the ball hit near the left field line on sportscenter, and that was just icing on the cake.
But when you have the bases loaded and nobody out, and you fail to score, thats really all on you.Comment

Re: ALDS: Twins vs Yankees
I can understand hating the team, but I personally find it ridiculous that people are hating them because the umpires made a mistake. The Yankees have nothing to do with that."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: ALDS: Twins vs Yankees
Well I'm glad we walked off but we definitely got a huge break with the "foul ball" I could see it was fair when it hit...I can't see how that umpire thought it was foul.
Even though at least 1 run would have been in, I don't think there is any excuse for the Twins not getting at least 1 run in w/ the bases loaded.Comment

Re: ALDS: Twins vs Yankees
I dont even believe that can be guaranteed...with a runner at second it is a completley different situation, so the pitcher might have thrown different pitches in different locations to the batter, so he might not have gotten a single after that would be double.Comment

If it turned out Mauer got the double there is no way Marte would have pitched to the next batter. Robertson or Gaudin would have been in.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

I just want to say it's a miracle A-Rod finally came through big. I think I scared the neighbors when he launched that ball...Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon.
