Such a weird dodgy groupthink though, has to be said. Edgar Martinez wasn't good enough for 60% of the voters a couple of years ago, but now he's an 85% guy. It's a very strange system.

Congrats to those who got in

It's odd though that all official stuff from the Halladay family comes through the Phillies organization. Even Brandy's statement today came via the Phillies.

I've heard some stuff that indicates he may be going in as a Phillie...I'd be surprised if that happened as an overwhelming majority of his career was in Toronto, but you never know.

If that happens there's going to be plenty of hurt feelings above the 49th especially considering there's VIDEO TAPE of Halladay saying he wants to go in as a Blue Jay.

The HOF would be looking at a PR nightmare if they have him go in as a Phillie.

I can't remember; does the HOF choose it still or is it back to the player choosing it? The articles I read were basically saying that while Halladay didn't spend a lot of time in Philly, his accomplishments there were more memorable than what he did in Toronto. I just can't see him being anything but a Blue Jay...

Here we go from a Cleveland.com article just before Thome got in:

According to Idelson, the cap decision is made by the Hall of Fame's senior staff and research team. "They'll look at a player's career numbers and look at the impact, and quite honestly, it's usually a no-brainer," Idelson told ESPN. "Then we have a conversation with the player, because we wouldn't do something unilaterally.
My bias tells me it can't be anything other than Toronto but then he had those two no-hitters in a Phils uniform hmmm....Well time will tell.

If Blue Jays fans bitch and moan about Halladay going in as a Phillie, my guess is it won't be the HOF looking at a PR nightmare.

I'm just baffled how Omar Vizquel is getting 43% while Andruw is not even sniffing 10%. Same goes even for Scott Rolen.

Are you insinuating that the Jays would be the one looking at a PR nightmare? If so that would probably be true. Let's just say there would be a lot of kvetching heard all throughout the GTA.

Anywho, I know some people think Brian Kenny is a bit too much but I saw this and basically, McGriff is a HOFer based on how well he argued here.
