I'm thinking maybe it's just some lingering side effects from his plunking in Cincinnati... I hope.

They just mentioned the injury on the broadcast. I just missed it, said something about a strain and will be getting an MRI.

Anybody catch what they said?

Well that's not good. Guessing we probably won't see Medlen for a while.

Maybe Mike Minor will get a shot. It sure as hell doesn't seem like they even remember KK is on the roster.

In a 1-0 game in the top of the 9th, a runner in scoring position, and two 1.000 OPS bats vs right-handers on the bench....."professional" manager Ron Gardenhire allows backup catcher Drew Butera to bat, he of the .600 minor league OPS.

Then the Rays tie it in the bottom of the 9th.

Vicente Padilla has something going against the Padres. The bats have gone absolutely silent that its deafening.

Edit: No such luck, I think I've used my "jinxes allowable" for the year when I jinxed Sanchez twice and Hudson earlier this season.

Padres 2-4 so far in the past week. Gotta start hitting with consistency instead of unleashing in one game.

Mujica should be DFA'd soon and Gwynn needs to be started in CF. I don't care that we got Ludwick, Gwynn is the best centerfielder on this team and starting Denorfia is like playing Brady Clark in centerfield, and I'm pretty sure Bud Black knows how much Clark's bad defense cost played a factor in the Padres missing the playoffs in 2007.

Hellickson is looking really impressive against the Twins. His fastball looks a lot faster than it really is.

With pitching its all about having the illusion of pitching on a downward plane. Many GMs mistakenly think that means getting pitchers 6'4" and taller, but Lincecum is probably the best at performing that magic trick.

Believe me, I have faced a measley 88mph looking like it was darting down from the pitcher's hand and its not pretty

No, people don't have to celebrate the milestones of "cheaters", but they are supposed to celebrate the icons of the game. A-Rod, steroids or not, is one of the greatest players to ever play. .

No, he is not....I can name 50 players better off the top of my head, that does not constitute icon.

He is 44th in adjusted OPS (which takes into account ALL eras of baseball) and that is without his decline period...which may drop him to 80th by the time he retires. This year he is 117...

That's just his offense...his defense has always been vastly overrated...

Add to the fact that power hitters usually keep their discipline while losing power...Alex never had great discipline like a Jim Thome who he is currently tied with for ERA+

Besides, he is a cretin on and off the field

If you can't see that A-Rod is one of the greatest players of all time, then there is no need in trying to reason with you. That is ridiculous. His defense was overrated? He was an excellent defensive player at one of the toughest positions to play in his early years. 50 players better? He is on most lists, a top 5 shortstop of all time (on many, he is number 1) and also a top 5 third basemen of all time. Again, if you honestly believe that he isn't one of the greats, there is no helping you.

Moving on, off day today for the Yankees. Start a big 4 game series against the Red Sox on Friday. Good opportunity to put them away with a sweep, if possible.
