    The League is not very...umm...even.
On the flip side when an underdog advances in the playoffs with a salary of 3 nickles that makes it really stand out even more!

Crawford...7 years/142 mill....plus Adrian Gonzalez....the Sox have become the Yanks!

I guarantee the Heat won't win a championship with that big 3.

Besides, they had to literally chop off all their role players to make it happen.

They're serious about winning more than just this east this year. And, with this roster and the contracts they have, they want to be top contenders for the next 4 or 5.

That's not even close to being a good comparison.

A better comparison to what the cap would do in baseball is looking at the NFL.

why is this news? Just assume 3-4 of the top 6 FA's are going to sign with either the Yankees or Red Sox. Are we going to be surprised if Cliff Lee signs with the Yankees too?

My point is a cap doesn't force the Pirates/Royals/etc to spend...you need a floor more than you need a cap imo.

                      We need both.

                      We need the NHL system.

Both are needed. Along with other changes to the financial structure.

I should've been more comprehensive because i've been advocating for a floor as well.

Agreed, but I think at this point it's more important to make teams spend...look at the Pirates pocketing money they could be spending.

Interestingly, the NHL system has created the possibilities of players playing their entire careers with one team. That's actually kinda cool.

And people wonder why the Yankees and Red Sox are hated.
