I wasn't being serious.. Ryan Howard isn't even the best player on the Phillies. Shane Victorino deserves some consideration for MVP though

Re: NL MVP Race
If the Pirates get hot or end with a respectable record, then Cutch definitely deserves consideration & there's no denying that. He'll probably end up in the top 10 in voting at least.Comment

Re: NL MVP Race
If the D-Backs win their division then I say give it to Upton (provided he keeps up this level of play)
If not I say give it to Fielder or Braun.Last edited by The Big Squeezy; 08-26-2011, 04:23 PM.Browns

Re: NL MVP Race
Hardly. It's MVP not best player. If a team is in last place with someone they'd be in last place without him, just might get a higher draft pick with him which actually means they're almost on the negative side of value. If it was best player then no it wouldn't matter how well the team did. Unless we're defining valuable in the literal sense that they sell merchandise/extra tickets/bring in fans.Comment

Re: NL MVP Race
Kemp and Bautista can't be MVP because their teams would miss the playoffs regardless of their outstanding play. Granderson and Gonzalez/Ellsbury can't be MVP because their teams would make the playoffs regardless of their outstanding play.
Perhaps the MVP should be renamed the Best Player on a Mediocre Team that Barely Made the Postseason Award. That would clear things up.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: NL MVP Race
They're equally valuable to both teams.NFL: Indianapolis Colts (12-6)
NBA: Indiana Pacers (42-13)
MLB: Cincinnati Reds (0-0)
NHL: Detroit Red Wings (26-20-12)
NCAA: Purdue Boilermakers (FB: 1-11, BB: 15-12), Michigan Wolverines (FB: 7-6, BB: 19-7, H: 15-10-3)Comment

Re: NL MVP Race
Between Braun and Fielder at this point. Gonna have to give it to Braun right now. He has a very good chance of winning the batting title and is 5 HR away from being a 30/30 guy. Might end up a 30/40 guy when it's all said and done the way he's been stealing bases lately. We'll see how they perform down the stretch though. Can't count out Upton at this point either.Comment

I wasn't talking about Albert Pujols. Votto is better. Switch teams and Votto would have ridiculous numbers.Comment
