long story, bitter fans being burned by bad ownership. But thats another discussion.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Thats weak..... Why are there Cubs fans..3 million of them a year that goto Cubs games...

We haven't been to the playoffs in 45 years...and the Marlins won the WS in 97.... There is no excuse for their fan base problems...

The Marlins are a burden on Baseball, because of their fans not going to games... That is why the profit sharing is not going to happen... Why support a dieing (TEAM) cause...

Pittsburg fans come on here and biatch all the time because they lose players....(Hey guys, goto a game and support your team)...Makes sense to me...

There is nothing worse than a group of fans biatching about their ownership....When no one supports their team...

Biatch about the yankees all you want but they sell the tickets...They have the money to spend, and they keep their number 1 priority happy, their fans...That keep coming out watching games through the good and the Bad ...

Being a Cubs fan I just don't understand why people want to biatch, but don't want to make the sacrifice by going and watching a lossing team..In hopes their money spent, will help their franchise to be on top again someday...

    Fairweather is bad.....(People)

Holding a community hostage and basically telling your fans "build us a stadium or we are leaving" isnt exactly a great way to have people show up to watch a team play. This happened for 4 years under John Henry when wayne sold the team. Now with Luria, last year there was no advertisment, no commitment from ownership saying they were gonna stay and help nurture the team. It was a transition period. This is the first year the team has gotten it together, and the fans slowly started coming out. Wayne is the landlord, and john henry screwed up when he basically decided to not get money from stadium amenities. All that money goes to wayne. New ownership is in the same boat till the lease expires.

You build the team and the fans come, not the other way around, especially when they keep telling you that the team is going away. Why put loyalty into that? They put a good priduct this year, and i did my part by going to about 20 games during the regular season. I cant speak for the rest of miami and south florida, but I am more than happy with how my money was spent on the marlins this year.

That said, a team has to show commitment in order for a fanbase to develop. When talks of ownership become more important than the game, everyone goes away. The cubs, yankees, bosox and many others have a home, have tradition in place, and have a fanbase which has grown up knowing nothing but the team. Ownership threatening to leave shatters what little tradition you have going.

Well i am rambling now. Go Fish!!!

You fill the seats cause you know they will be there next year, in their home, with everything in place.

Imagine watching the cubs playing at soldier field ( for arguments sake) and at the end of every year, they say they are leaving. EVERY YEAR. Ownership is all the local radio shows talk about. Nothing else. As soon as you can name about half of the starters on your team, most of them are gone. Now repeat this for 5 years. You have no idea what its like, and therefore cannot possibly imagine how it is.

If our ownership made an attempt to keep the team together, you better beleive the season ticket sales would go up 10-fold. But we arent even sure if we will have the same ownership next year. Luria's contract with major league baseball to own the marlins runs out next year. Now what?

I would want nothing more than for them to build a stadium here someplace and put a team out there that we can go and see without having to worry about what happens at the end of year, will they be here or not. Luria is still being investigated by his prior investors with the expos. No one wants to partner up with the marlins because of him. Its Luria and Sampson and thats it. Sportscasters down here are already screaming 'fire sale' after all this is over; and that bothers the hell out of me.

I agree, its sad, and it sucks. And when it comes down to it there really is no excuse, but you give me a 'good' owner who will actually come out and say "Hey we are here for the long haul. Lets make this work", and i guarantee that the fanbase will be there. And then maybe you are right, its a miami thing. People expect winners, and when a team isnt winning, no one goes. I dont know, maybe its the tradition thing again. But in the end , it still sucks.

Any one that come on this board and biatchs about their team, and I flip over to a game on TV and see 5000 in the seats....They need to STFU real quick and go play golf...Just like you...becuase thats all your team is ever going to do in september unless you get lucky in AAA like the Marlins and Twins....

Oh did I mention the Birds SUCK!!!!!!!

Cubs will own the Central for years to come..... You can bank on that...

Now what?

                          <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Understandable ...but you still have to support your team...If people filled the stands there would be no problem with the league or the owner...

Do you see my side of this argument... Maybe we do need profit sharing, but people have to come out regardless and support their team...

                          <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

What I fear is it will not help but just push Baseball back even further...

Two teams with new stadium's same results...Pittsburgh and Cincy... They both have beautiful new stadiums, yet the people stay home...
