I really like what the Royals have been doing. They should be a force in the ALC soon, real soon. As a Tigers fan they scare me already, and not just because Hosmer already apparently owns us.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

I'm going to bet the Twinkies give Tony LaCava a call. I think LaCava fits in perfectly with the kind of philosophy the Twins have though he has more of a SABR bent to him but like Alex Anthopoulos he mixes in some of the old school ways as well. I'm a little surprised that they're apparently going to keep Gardenhire but I guess one really bad year is not enough to throw him off the bus.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
I can understand the Cabrera-Sanchez trade from both sides.
The Giants are desperate for some hitting, and Cabrera is only 27, so he likely is going up rather than down from here on out. Plus, he'll likely be at his best a year from now and they could move him from CF to a different OF spot when Gary Brown comes up as said earlier. If not, Brown could take over in CF, and they could likely trade Cabrera for something of value.
The Royals need some experienced pitching, and didn't have to give up much in Cabrera with Lorenzo Cain waiting in the wings.
I can also see the risks.
Cabrera is seen by many as more of a 4th outfielder-type who just had one good year. It's also wondered how his defense will hold up in the AT&T Park outfield.
Sanchez is wild and doesn't have very good walk rates. He can't really be trusted as more of a 3/4 guy because he'll be facing offenses like the Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, Tigers, etc. Some might say he had good K rates because he was facing the NL West hitting most of the time.
Then again, both still are fairly young and may not have reached their peak in ability. I can understand why both teams took a flyer on guys who aren't quite at their best yet but have potential.
It's gonna take a year or two to decide who wins this one, but I say the Giants are the winners as of now because they pick up Cabrera, who only can get better, for a player at a position they have depth in (SP is already good plus Zito and Surkamp). I just don't think Sanchez will do that good in the AL.Last edited by philliesfan136; 11-08-2011, 10:46 AM.Comment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Marlins scheduling a lot of meetings with players. They are meeting with Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle tomorrow and Yoenis Cespedes on Thurs(Supposedly according to a few Executives throughout MLB say the Marlins are one of the favorites to land him). And i'm sure will be in contact with Pujols/Fielder eventually as I'm hearing that who Ozzie really wants(who wouldn't tho lol).
I'm down for any of these guys coming to Miami. If I had to choose tho i'd rather have Reyes/Buehrle and that Cuban guy over just Pujols/Fielder if it's possibleLast edited by Chrisksaint; 11-08-2011, 01:04 PM.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

It Seems, Royals are only interested in Zambrano if he's released.

2. I guess the Red Sox want to add an injury prone player on the decline to their bloated roster. As a Jays fan, i've no complaintsMember of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

RAJ terribly overpays Madson: 4 years, $44 mil. with a 5th year vesting option for $13 mil.
Highest average annual value for any reliever besides Mo.Comment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
I really want the Tigers to pick up Jamey Carrol, this guy is a heck of a deal.
Career .356 OBP, .280 hitter, solid defender, makes 2 million a season.
Had a 3.1 WAR in 2010, and 1.8 last year. He's 38 but hasn't really declined.
Last year he hit .290 with a .360 OBP. Obviously not a power hitter, but he's a heck of a player for what he is paid. Can even steal a base every now and then also.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment
