Now I've said before that equal blame goes to the front office for not getting a deal done, but as was stated, ultimately Pujols was going to become a FA. But 10 yrs would never work in the NL for a 31+ player.

As a baseball fan, this sucks because outside of maybe Mauer and Kemp, gone are the days of stars staying on the same team their entire career. Once Jeter and Mo retire, gone are the days of Ripken, Brett, Mattingly.
    Chipper too.

Yeah I don't fault Albert at all, as a Cardinals fan I will say seeing him put on the Angels hat and uni at his press conference felt so wrong.

I understand that in this day and age St. Louis can't compete with a market like LA or NY for a free agent and that ultimately not being tied down by his contract in the late years will benefit us but it still stings, I wanted to see him hit #500 in a Cardinals uniform, reach all of his milestones here but it wasn't meant to be.

Last time we bid against a big market for a free agent and lost it worked out pretty well for us as he has struggled since his big payday (AJ Burnett the year he signed with the Yankees), I think 10 years from now when we look back we'll see this was actually better for the team that he headed west. That said I think he has at least 4 more years playing at a high level at 1B, then he should still be a good DH but obviously that can't work in the NL.

I'll miss Albert and wish him well in Anaheim, I'm glad I got to watch so much of the first 11 seasons of his career up close, players like him don't come around often.

It's going to hurt for a while though everytime I see him crushing the ball for the Angels, I doubt I'll ever get used to it. Hopefully when it's all said and done he'll go into the Hall as a Red Bird, he would have to do some really amazing things to go in as an Angel I'd imagine but then again he is Albert and he has proven himself more than capable of doing just that.

Pretty safe bet to say the Cardinals. He won't top what he did in St Louis, in Anaheim.

Yeah forgot about Chipper. Obviously there are others who could fall into the possible category like Verlander, Lincecum, etc. I hope for baseball's sake some of these stars stay with the same club for the duration of their career. We fans deserve it

Not happy about the rumors of the M's interested in Willingham. I like him as a player but at 33, a 3 year deal will be overpaying for a pull-happy hitter in a home park where RH's power goes to die.

Unless the Angels win a couple World Series rings and Pujols continues to have great production I think it's safe to say he'll go in as a Cardinal.

The M's are now out of the JW "sweepstakes" from what I'm hearing. Sounds like it's down to Minnesota and Cleveland. His decision could hinge on what Cuddyer decides to do. It seems that if Cuddyer resigns with Minnesota that Cleveland will be the min suitor for Willingham.

Just received confirmation: #Mariners are out of the running for Josh Willingham. His choices down to only #Twins and #Indians.

I thought about Verlander the other day. He's going to get an insane amount of money, but the Tigers have the deep pockets to pay him. Mike Illitch would write him a blank check, I have no doubt.

If JW signs with the Twins i would hope that we (cleveland) would chase Cuddyer, can play him pretty much anywhere if need be but he could be the player to fill 1st base which is what we are after.

I doubt we sign either, personally. I think Willingham is just using us for leverage and he wants 3 years and I doubt we'll give that to him anyway. Cuddyer will probably cost too much too. I figure we'll probably go after Casey Kotchman. I'd love to be wrong, but that's what I see going down.
