Yeah, when I first saw the offer I was stunned, but the DH makes that look a little better when Albert hits his late thirties.

That's still going to be a damn expensive DH in 5 years, though.

(That was probably already said, I just haven't caught up on the entire thread yet...)

Finances won't be an issue. Team has been in the top 5 in attendance for like the last 10 years. They've got great corporate deals, and they about to sign a real nice TV contract extension ($80-$100 million per year possibly more with Pujols here. ).. Incoming money to the team will not be a problem any time in the near future.

Oh I know. The Angels are loaded. I was speaking at the general notion that fans shouldn't care since its not their money.

Fans should care, especially when you have an owner who's a piece of **** and doesn't spend any of it wisely. That's why the Rangers had Alex Rodriguez, and Hicks couldn't figure out why people didn't come to the Ballpark. Ends up being that winning means a lot to the pocketbook.

              Ahh gotcha.

I've heard a few times the Angels being called the sleeping giant in baseball, because of their resume stream, their ability to fill the stadium, etc. I read an ESPN article stating the sleeping giant has awoken this offseason. I am not sure about that, but a lot of people sleep on exactly how deep the resources for this team really are.

Exactly. I watched many Angels games considering they were my favorite teams' division rival and since I had the Extra Innings package. Angel Stadium was empty in the second half of the season. When they're not winning, nobody shows up. The Angels better hope they win the division this year, because this whole situation could become a massive failure.

They had the 5th best attendance in the league last year. They haven't been below 5th in attendance in the league since 2005 ,when they were 6th.

Doom and gloom from Ranger fans. Who didn't see that coming?

Which games were you watching? From what I see their lowest attendance # in the second half of the season was 36,000 and that was a Tuesday night game vs. Seattle.

Last week of the season when they were out of the race? Avg attendance was 40,000

Thank you Albert Pujols for the amazing years you spent as a cardinal. Hope you do well with the Angels, but not against the cardinals. I'm a little upset that management couldn't do anything for the past two years, and a little saddened that Pujols is leaving.

Comment on a Brewers site, made me laugh...

Meanwhile, here's a conversation that probably happened in Houston today (and may be repeated when Fielder signs):
“Pujols signed with the Angels! We don’t have to deal with him anymore!”
“That’s great news…but don’t we move to that division in 2013?”
                            “…..[Insert random obscenities here].”

I just didn't see the Angels pulling it off.

Crazy. So what happens with Trumbo? Do you just DH him or try to move him to 3rd or a corner outfield position?
