Yes, I'd most definitely pay A-Rod when Texas did, then Pujols now, not even close. A-Rod hit 52 57 and 47 in his 3 years in Texas.

I'm happy we got Pujols and CJ...****ing ecstatic! I just always have despised the Yankees because all they do is go out and buy the best players and spend lots of money and that's exactly what we did here.

So what? It's allowed in the rules of the game, so the Yankees/Red Sox/Angels all have that ability to do that.

As a yankee fan i can say that was the old Yankees.
Cahsman is looking to get out from under the umbrella of bad contract signings, thanks to AJ and the possible albatross of A-Rods [and possibly tex's] big deals.

Once u start overpaying, it becomes a trend, plus other teams will learn to try to rape you in trades and agents will use u to jack up their clients prices.

I'll preface this by saying I'm definitely no life long Angel fan (I like them yes, but I'm no hardcore Angel fan).

But when deals like this are announced (usually the Yankees making these types of deal often it seems) what amuses me even more is the Ire it draws from "true" fans of the sport. More so from the fans of the team the guy is leaving.

Dumb move or not, money well spent or not, honestly why does it matter? It's Arte's money, not ours. Guys that demand that big a contract are going to go to whoever is willing to pay it (not always obviously, but more times than not).

I complain because I see right now in front of me what my team is doing to me in front of my eyes because of poor spending.

Hearsay: ESPN and BBTN are talking about the Rangers signing Fielder at some price.

Comparison based on facts: The contracts for both Rodriguez/Park and Pujols/Wilson are similar in a lot of ways, and could play out both in the same fashion.

So by that logic, shouldn't u despise the Angels now?

Or it doesn't apply when its ur team.

You are definitely entitled to complain to your heart's content. No harm in that at all.

God forbid fans of teams are concerned about the way their teams' finances are conducted. You know, since they have a direct impact on ability to compete now and in the future.

I agree, its Arte's money and he can spend it however he pleases. I'm a life long Angels fan and I despise the Yankees for being big money spenders and here my time is doing it. Should I no longer despise the Yankees? lol

No complaints here. Get your money, Winnie.

I don't like the Yankees overspending either, but it's definitely nice to know we'll always be in it. As a baseball fan I hate it for other teams; as a Yankees fan, I love it.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Totally different players, similar contracts or not.

Let them show concern, they are obviously allowed to do so. Good on them.

Your problem was "despising" them to begin with.
