Looks like the Orioles will name Dan Duqette, a man who's been out of baseball for 10 years, their new GM. I don't even...

Weren't the Phillies already the oldest team in the majors before signing Thome?

Yeah, but Thome could help out guys like Mayberry and the young prospects who come up.

Well...at least Duqette has a proven track record with developing a minor league system but yeah.....Um this isn't going to work.

Should the Red Sox trade for King Felix now they are $52mill less in salary next year? Here is how it could get done.

            Carl Craword,DiceK,Lars Anderson,Jed Lowrie

            Seattle trades-
            King Felix,Chone Figgins,Ichiro "17mill next year",and a setup man.

I just don't see them trading Carl. And is Chone really liked in LF after Ichiro retires?

Doesn't matter because the M's would never make that deal.

I can't think of a reason why Mariners will accept this.

The M's would never make that proposed deal so it's a moot point to even discuss it. If the M's are smart they probably try to trade Ichiro somewhere IMO.

Braun told the NY Times that he was recruiting Reyes at AS break to play for the Brewers because he will cost much less than Fielder will.
He will probably get 25 but not next season. He's probably going to start off at 20 and will be getting 25 by the time his deal expires. I don't think there is anyway he starts off at 25.

So bad contract, hot garbage, overhyped prospect, and utility guy is the going rate for a top 5 pitcher?

That trade basically is just swapping horrible contracts/overpaid players. Crawford, Figgins, Ichiro, Dick K. And a prospect. Oh and Boston gets the best pitcher in the American League, also.

For Boston to get Hernandez, who is the best pitcher in the AL and a bargain for his contract, it's gonna be something like Bucholz, or Ellsbury, and 2-3 top prospects.

Hernandez' value right now is probably just as high as any player in baseball. He's 25, signed until 2015, throws 240 innings a season, has had a 2.27 and 2.49 ERA in two of the past 3 seasons, and has a WHIP that's barely over 1. He's the best in the AL.

I don't understand the continual Felix talk. Do Red Sox and Yankees fans confuse Seattle with San Diego or something? The Mariners are bad, but they're not poor.
