It's one thing when Jim Hendry passes on you but When Theo and Co. Pass on you, there's gotta be something these baseball guys are seeing something in Sandberg they don't like.
I'm hopeful for Francona but I think It will be Maddux because Theo and Jed they seem to like pitching Coaches based on their history. Just my Gut.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
That makes absolutely no sense. They are going to let Fielder walk because they can't pay him 20 million a season. Then they are going to turn around a give 20 million per season to a guy who hasn't stayed healthy for more than 100 games at a time since 2008? There's no way.
If the Brewers could afford a big name free agent, the one they would be trying to sign would be....Fielder.Milwaukee Brewers | Green Bay Packers | North Carolina Tar Heels | Wisconsin BadgersComment

Can't see them paying that kind of money for Reyes when they could keep Prince for about the same price.Favorite Teams:
NCAA- University of Illinois Fighting Illini
NFL- Cleveland Browns
MLB- St. Louis Cardinals
NBA- Boston Celtics
NHL- Chicago Blackhawks

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
And it sounds like Reyes is going to get 20 million, or extremely close to it. I would be weary on him. He's so attractive with his skill set, but he hasn't played close to a full season in 4 years and his legs are shot.
Lets say Reyes starts off his 1st year with like 17-18 million...and Fielder is at 21 or 22. Wouldn't the Brewers just scrap together that 5 million, and keep the guy who is extremely durable/young opposed to the guy who is beaten up?
Fielder is going to get more years than Reyes, but I think they will both be in the 20 million range. And if that's the case, and the Brewers can pay that much to a player, shouldn't it be to Fielder?JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Do we know that for sure though? Prince is going to be around for 20 million a season. Look around the league, Cabrera, Gonzalez, Texeria, Howard, etc. (all the elite first basemen) are making right around 20 million per season.

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
If that's the case, I'd send any 2 or 3 guys on the first flight to Atlanta for him. As long as they don't want Turner or Castellanos, the Tigers would be crazy not to send whoever they ask for.
Would the Braves interested in Delmon Young? They've been wanting an outfielder with some pop forever it seems like. He could hit 25 for them.
Prado doesn't have the risk of Aramis Ramirez, and he doesn't suck like the rest of the free agents at 2nd and 3rd. I bet a lot of teams are gonna be interested.Last edited by CabreraMVP; 11-03-2011, 09:59 PM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
This made my day, he would be a perfect fit in Detroit. Their in need of a 2nd or 3rd basemen. Do you Detroit would have to give up any of their top 2 prospects to get him? I think they could get for less than that.

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
In Moorad's effort to make the San Diego Padres just like his old team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Padbacks have announced that some guy named Chad MacDonald will be the assistant GM or something. The Padres will also unveil "new" uniforms soon and rumor has it the color scheme resembles brick redSpoilerNot true, but at this rate it wouldn't surprise me
Can we fold this derelict franchise before it becomes even more sad?Comment

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Well the .285, 20-25 homers he'll give is just a little bit more than they got from Heyward, McClouth, and Hinkse, no?
Young doesn't walk, but he really doesn't strike out too much either. He's just a weird hitter. He always seems to hit the ball hard. Career .288 hitter. He's a lot better power option than anybody they had in their OF last season, that's for sure.
And I'm just talking about Prado to Detroit, not Jurrjens. Those two guys for Delmon Young would be awesome though, don't get me wrong. Haha.
This ruined my day. Jair Jurrjens and Martin Prado are personally my favorite Atlanta Braves players. If Frank Wren trades these two, our fanbase is going to be very very upset unless we get a huge return. The team already collapsed and made our fan base angry, the last thing that Frank needs to do is make the fan base even more upset before the year that is supossed to be the year for us.Last edited by CabreraMVP; 11-03-2011, 10:58 PM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

What happened to Yunel Escobar? Is he a free agent?Comment
-
Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
I think Furcal would be brought into play 2nd base in Toronto, since Kelly Johnson is a free agent and I don't think they are very high on him. Escobar is still there and one of the best shortstops in the game.
Speaking of the Braves, that Escobar deal sucks. The people with the biggest issues with Yunel were Cox (who's gone, still with team but...) and Chipper who doesn't have much time left. It's one thing if you are going to trade him, but he was what, like 26? And one of the best players in the game at a position with very little great players. Could have gotten more than Alex Gonzalez.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment
