It would not surprise me in the least bit if the Nationals pick up Fielder, but I still think there is a huge gap between his demands and what teams will pay for him.

The funny thing...the Orioles are the majority owners of MASN, yet we have our GM frolicking around telling everyone we're a small market team while the team that owns maybe 20% of the channel are always in the mix for top tier free agents. All of this in the same exact market, no less.Last edited by BunnyHardaway; 01-23-2012, 11:22 AM.Comment

The Nats are getting a lot of money via MASN...if they were willing to give Jayson Werth his contract, they'll give big money to Prince.

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
It depends on where you live, but I would be a Nationals fan if that's what I had to go through. Even if they don't get Fielder, the Nationals are poised to make a good run for a number of years with the talent they have. Of course, I know what it's like to have a franchise that's held down by ownership and how hard it is on the fanbase.Comment

If Prince gets a 10 year deal out of the Nats then well....I guess he doesn't REALLY care about winning.

Re: The Hot Stove League Thread
Wilson Betemit to Baltimore. Kill me!
Inge hits .195. The Tigers get Betemit to replace him. Betemit hits .292 with 7 homeruns in 40 games.
Then, the Tigers let Betemit walk, and pay Inge TWO TIMES the money to START at Third Base.
I can't make this stuff up.
Jim Leyland says "Ohh but Inge has to beat out Kelly at 3B, he's gotten earn it." Kelly has a career .650 OPS. They are both career .235 hitters. They are both horrible. Making a 6 million dollar, .195 hitter earn his position by outplaying a guy who isn't in the major leagues for any reason other than his ability to play 9 positions.
Betemit agasint RHP last year : .303/.365/.500
Kelly agaisnt RHP: .250/.299/.388
Inge: .197/.265/.283
You can have 2 of those guys...The greatest hitter of all 3 makes half as much as the worst one. The Tigers pick the worst 2 hitters, and pay double the money.
Pathetic. Pathetic offseason. They have regressed so much. The only thing to make this offseason better would be bringing in Damon and his .730 OPS to fill the DH spot and replace Martinez. They are trying to.
When did logic become so unpopular.Last edited by CabreraMVP; 01-23-2012, 11:01 PM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment
