And on top of that, we will get a new TV deal, and that'll obviosuly get us more money to play around with.
Even if the Mariners get some significant amount of money from a TV deal, what major FA position player would want to play in Safeco?

Their TV deal will be significantly less than a big market team. The Seattle market is listed as the 15th largest market.

When is the last time Seattle landed a big time free agent? Richie Sexson

The best part of this whole thread, is the part about if the writers say it, it must be true.

Just look at predictions for any league, any playoffs, any finals, anything over the last God-knows-how-long and you'll see that by and large, the "experts" don't know much more than us.
So why dont you get on the other people arguing instead of just me? And im not trusting the writers, i've seen them in person, i read almost everything that has to do with sports, i know my team better than all the other non Mariner fans that just use google real quick to talk about how bad our offense has been, but they havent even talked about what has happened in those years, We just got Ackley who when he came in looked like a top 10-15 third baseman and is only going to improve.
What about all you that didnt know Justin Smoak hasnt had a full season under his belt and when he was healthy he has been great, or how about the fact that in only about 60 games or so Carp had 12 homers, or about the fact that those 3 players could easily get 20 homers, and with the additon of Montero the offense is hands down without a doubt going to be better.

Was it Cliff Lee? But I mean, pitchers would want to play there and pitching isn't what they need. Big time positional player? I think it was Adrian Beltre, who spent his prime sucking at Safeco and as soon as he moved on...he suddenly became a star again. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Yup he went there after that 48 homer or whatever it was year in LA. Then became real average real fast.

Living in SD, I see it with Petco, it makes hitters look real average real fast. Not that the Padres have any money or the will to spend money on FA's.

Beltre is a righty, rightys arent that great at the Safe, while leftys thrive, and we traded for Cliff Lee, he wasnt a free agent.

I like Ackley, but he's had what 300 career at bats? Jury is still out on him, I don't see him being a silver slugger type hitter even if he hits his ceiling.
